How do we know if a CME happened, if it's Earth directed & when it's going to arrive? #spaceweather
Here are 4 methods...
1. Using the proton flux monitor
2. Using SOHO/LASCO coronagraph imagery
3. Using the SIDC Cactus Software
(included the last 2 days of CMEs according to Cactus)
4. Using the EPAM Plot
When does the CME arrive?
Once we know the speed of the coronal mass ejection, we can determine when it might arrive.
With the following table you can determine how long the coronal mass ejection will take to travel from the Sun to Earth.
Determining the impact by using the EPAM monitor.
Lastly, a big thank-you to SpaceWeatherLive.com (@_SpaceWeather_) for their website & app, attention to detail, and extensive information provided in a clear & easily understood format.
The expected effects were power outages, computer glitches, increased UV & other wavelength radiation leading to high evaporation/high humidity/extreme rain, leading to uptick in diseases, primarily affecting old/compromised immune system, (cont)
@sockeyesupply Part 3
Respiratory, cardiovascular, not only attributed to increased proton/electron flux, increased cosmic rays, but manifesting in odd animal behavior, esp marine/birds.
Also expect atmospheric thinning (ionospheric stripping is how Mars lost atmosphere to a big solar flare.
@RisingTides14 The plot on this page shows us the most recent 24-hour solar X-ray data from the primary GOES satellite.
There are several different solar phenomena to look out for... solar flares, coronal holes, sunspots & filaments.
@RisingTides14 When the Sun has sunspots they have the potential to flare, sometimes w/ a CME (coronal mass ejection) or not. Dark areas of the sun are coronal holes.
There are 3 scales at this link... swpc.noaa.gov/noaa-scales-ex…
They track geomagnetic storms, radiation storms & radio blackouts
@RisingTides14 When the Sun has high activity all these effects tend to overlap leading to risk here on Earth to a much greater extent than we've been led to believe. Yesterday's internet outages & power failures were, I believe, due to the long lasting C class flares & xray radiation storm
@Ki11switch17@OakieJs@In2ThinAir I don't know much of anything about astronomy. I DO know when I was a kid, if the moon rose as a right crescent, it set as a right crescent. If the moon was full & you could see the #ManInTheMoon he would look at you all night exactly the same angle. One good proof is that...
@Ki11switch17@OakieJs@In2ThinAir NOBODY remembers any deviation from the below moon calenders which were published in the paper, magazines, books, and on actual calendars. The below views were all that there was. No child ever asked what time the moon would look like the calendar, cause it was all night long.
@Ki11switch17@OakieJs@In2ThinAir And a further, kind of funny proof is if you jump online and look for moon products...tshirts, mugs, wall tapestries etc they show how it used to be. About 3 years ago they started phasing in the new data without a word to anyone. Wikipedia rewrite.
@MaskatronPrime Lets take it back to a simpler level. It's not directly about heat.... looking at the frequency spectrum, white is UV. The Sun has always been white, it appeared yellow due to our magnetosphere & atmosphere. Mag down by what 25/30% now? Xrays burning holes in ozone.
@MaskatronPrime The UFO data from Navy confirms plasmoid creation following heat sources, why volcanoes keep reacting at either sunset/sunrise & also getting hit by meteors & plasmoids. Why lighting is off the chart. Reports of electronics down... sure hope Navy playing dumb but actually know.
@MaskatronPrime Electrical glitch is called bitflip. Auto/aviation ind knows proton/electron storms cause geomag anomalies incl bitflip since 80s. Basically, info flips from a 1 to 0 or 0 to 1. It's prob only if its observed, double slit quantum. Boeing decided cheaper not to add shielding!
@IMPOTUS_PRIME It's from when the earth's rotation comes to a standstill. Imagine running with a big baking pan full of water, then stop real quick. The water doesn't though, does it. The Pacific has reached the east coast before....
@IMPOTUS_PRIME This is true of the atmosphere as well. That's why every night now at sunset you can see two layers of cloud going at angles to one another, the Earth tilted & the air didn't keep up.
Equatorial will get it worst cause its moving the fastest relatively.
@IMPOTUS_PRIME I haven't pinned down the sequence of events though, so I don't know if the Earth stops then tilts over, tilts Uber then stops, or more likely a combo. All religions day 3 days darkness, that's probably how long it takes, then we spin other direction... Pangaea over& over.
@SingulariNos@StarTra44830631 Aware of all examples & but only partially agree with you. Can't help myself, like knowing how things work, details, schematics, infographics. Lol. Of course, all opinions subject to change but this thing is an onion... Many layers & it's been planned & reworked & succeeded &
@SingulariNos@StarTra44830631 Failed through many cycles. Best guess cycle is 12,000 years. Evidence religion, geology, and the clock cycles of the universe which means, it is created, probably fractal, definitely electric, and most pushing the lies do not know anything about the earth's cataclysm cycle.
@SingulariNos@StarTra44830631 The Egyptians knew but they sure didn't build the pyramids, which are power structures. Maya knew & many more advanced than we are civilizations been just in this one cycle of 12000 yrs. Hardly anything left from before that, as the real reset happens.
