My mom said Acadian Lumberjacks had pants like this (first photo) in the color of the second photo pants, the color of fresh dried tobacco. The fabric was much stiff, soft and didn’t pleat. Kind of like US Calvary pants and it was designed to allow men to bend to cut trees.
The old logging pants used by Acadians had laces at the base of the leg like this. They would use boots or cover them with wool socks. They were worn with the Mackinaw plaid shirts and jackets.
My mom saw her brothers wearing these cut of pants as lumberjacks when they got contract jobs in Ontario and Quebec. pant style stopped being in use around 1942 because Nazi’s used them but Both US and German army used those style of pants. Patron had a pair.
