Marco Rose was sacked by Borussia Dortmund 286 days ago. This is how the dismissal really went: After the last game of the season against Hertha BSC, the coach celebrated with bosses and players.
First in the VIP area of the stadium, the football pension of Michael Zorc and then Rose went with his family to the celebration of former physiotherapist Thomas Zetzmann, who left the club after the season.
Players like Julian Brandt, Mats Hummels, Marco Reus, Axel Witsel and also Sebastian Kehl were there. A lot was talked about at both parties. Marco Rose leaving Borussia Dortmund was not a topic at all.
Rose even spoke with other guests about his future plans with Borussia Dortmund. Even on the day after the party night, there was no sign that Marco Rose would be dismissed soon. The coach personally said goodbye to all players at the training ground.
At that point, the players were just as ignorant as Marco Rose about what was coming. In the end, Julian Brandt was so surprised by the dismissal that he thought the news had come from a satirical magazine.
On 19 May, the bosses met to analyse the season, including Matthias Sammer after the last matchday. At the preliminary meeting without Rose and in the evening with him. At the final meeting, only Sebastian Kehl is said to have protected him in the end.
Rose was criticised for, among other things, not developing the squad further, for the many injured players and the performance in the cup competitions. And so in the end the consequence was separation.
However, this would only be conceivable at greatly reduced conditions. His current salary is said to be around 10 million euros. In the case of a contract extension, the salary would be only about half of that. In addition, it would be strongly performance-related. [...]
The bosses at Borussia Dortmund are currently building up a squad with Gregor Kobel, Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan. Mats Hummels would have to accept his new role. He is currently doing so without a sound. [...]
NEW: Borussia Dortmund is extending its pain threshold for Moukoko. The club would grant Patrick Williams an extra payment of 5 million euros. In addition, the club offers a 4-year contract + option, [...]
[...] an annual salary of up to 6 million and a signing bonus of over 10 million euros. In addition, the agent would receive the usual commission of 10% of Moukoko's salary and, ideally, a further 2.4 million euros. All in all, a 40 million euro package for an 18-year-old.
Today, the bosses are still negotiating with Patrick Williams in a hotel. The fact is: this is the last offer - there will be no more! If these conditions are not accepted, the player will have to leave the club.
"I took a huge step forward in the summer. It all feels lighter for me again. I have developed after the talks with Edin. I know how to go into tackles, what I have to do when I'm working against the ball, [...]"
[...] so that I can compete at the very highest level and be in the first eleven. It took me a while to finally understand that. Better late than never.
When it comes to a 1-on-1 situation, the opponent can't get past me so easily, I've realised that by now."
"Personally, I've also resolved to collect two or three more yellow cards and to tackle an opponent from time to time. That's part of BVB football. Of course I also want to collect more scorer points, that's what I'll be judged on in the end."
Things are getting tight for Emre Can at Borussia Dortmund.
Salih Özcan recently joked in a media round that it was already tight on the bus. The 24-year-old feels comfortable in the centre, where Mo Dahoud has been missing in recent months.
Sébastien Haller on the most emotional message during the time when the diagnosis came:
"When I came home, my wife had prepared some small posters with the messages of my family. Mom, dad, brother, sister. That was actually the most emotional thing."
"But there were also an incredible number of uplifting messages from the football world; I can't even list all the people. The president of the Ivory Coast was there, my ex-clubs and of course a lot of players, but I'd like to keep the messages to myself."
Jude Bellingham has still not made a decision on whether or not he will leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer. No talks are planned in Marbella either.
In principle, the Englishman could well imagine to go to Real Madrid, Liverpool or Man City. A few months ago, SPORT1 already reported that BVB would make Jude Bellingham a top earner if he stayed beyond 2023. However, there has not yet been an offer from BVB.
That's because the club first wants to know what Bellingham himself wants. If he says he can imagine staying, the club would approach the player and make him a top offer plus extend his contract to 2026.
