He may be bankrupt but that didn't stop exiled Chinese businessman Guo Wengui and his "New Federal State of China" from sponsoring @CPAC's convention taking place this week in DC.
Guo is Steve Bannon's friend and patron. Bannon and Guo announced the formation of the New Federal State of China in 2020.
Exactly how Guo is paying to sponsor CPAC is unclear. Guo filed for bankruptcy last year, one day a judge in New York ordered him to pay $134 million in five days or face possible arrest.
Bannon has called the New State of Federal China a "new government" and "a collection of high-net-worth individuals and sports and cultural figures throughout the world, expatriates that advocate for taking down the CCP." asiatimes.com/2020/06/bannon…
It appears, however, that the New Federal State of China's main function is harassing Guo's enemies.

The group was slapped with a federal injunction in January after its supporters doxxed a student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. baltimoresun.com/education/bs-m…

The only trace of the organization I could find was a trademark, which is owned by Guo's Rule of Law Foundation.
Guo also operates a media network that has pushed right-wing conspiracies about Hunter Biden.

Attorneys for Hunter Biden have threatened to sue Guo and Bannon for distributing explicit pictures from Biden's laptop. motherjones.com/politics/2023/…
Guo and fellow citizens of the New Federal State of China will be donating their unvaccinated sperm to be auctioned off later this year on Guo's social media platform GETTR.

Hint: It's not bots.
There are private, invite-only factories for making viral tweets. They're called retweet rooms.

Members of a retweet room agree to share each others tweets.
Some users say they are in as many as 20 retweet rooms.

Other people manage a network of rooms.

Either way, it's a quick way to generate hundreds or thousands of retweets.

The FBI has released a file I requested years ago on Tamir Sapir, (center), a Georgian developer who financed the construction of Trump Soho in 2008.

This is big news. Charles McGonigal, former FBI agent in charge of the NY FBI's counterintelligence division, was indicted for working for the sanctioned Kremlin-connected oligarch, Oleg Deripaska. justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/f…
Also indicted was Sergey Shestakov, a former Soviet and Russian diplomat, who worked as an interpreter for the federal courts and US attorney's offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Those two offices have handled cases involving Russian spies and organized crime figures.
Shestakov introduced Charles McGonigal in 2018 to a Deripaska employee, who was rumored to be a Russian spy.

The Deripaska employee isn't named in the indictment but the description matches that of Evgeny Fokin, who was coordinating efforts to lift sanctions on his boss.

The US follows the UK and Canada in sanctioning Vladimir Potanin, Russia’s richest man.
Vladimir Potanin has invested heavily in US companies through Altpoint Capital Partners LLC, a venture capital fund based in Greenwich, Connecticut.

US investments included ByteGrid, which hosted the computer servers used to register Maryland voters. sethhettena.com/2019/06/05/a-r…
A 2015 court filing identified one of Altpoint’s investments as Apollo Global Management LLC, one of the world’s biggest private equity funds. Apollo was co-founded by Leon Black (drink in hand) who accompanied Trump to Russia in 1996 to pursue real estate deals.

This is big: A derivatives panel has formally ruled that Russia defaulted on its sovereign debt.
The ruling means holders of debt insurance (credit default swaps) on two sovereign Russian bonds are now entitled to billions of dollars in payments.
Updated release shows only one bank voted against declaring Russia in default: Citibank.
