Rahul Gandhi in London: ‘BJP wants India to be silent...
Stepping up his attack on the Narendra Modi-led government, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that the BJP wants India to be “silent” and argued that there is “suppression of voice” across the country.
Emphasizing that the Congress is talking to other Opposition parties, Gandhi said the party had some interesting ideas to bring the Opposition together and did not want to spoil the surprise now.
At an interaction with the Indian Journalists’ Association in London on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi spoke about the controversy over the banning of the BBC documentary, the government’s handling of Chinese aggression at the border, his experiences during the #BJY
Opposition unity, and the row over his Cambridge lecture.
He said the yatra became necessary because the “structures of our democracy are under brutal attack”.

The last 3 days have been the "up" part of the roller coaster for Adani, because of GQG Fund management that bought nearly $2b worth of Adani stock in a "block trade".
What's a "block trade"? It's a negotiated off-market deal between a large buyer and a seller. And it's perfectly legal.
The buyer in this case was GQG, a $90b AUM (assets under management) fund based out of Florida and run by Rajiv Jain.
So he has literally bet 5% of his EM portfolio into Adani
The seller is Adani Family Trust.
GQG bought shares in four Adani firms at discounts ranging from 4.2%-12.2% to Thursday’s closing price, according to a statement from the Indian conglomerate and exchange filings.
Adani's Debt Ship, Will it sink all alone or take the economy with it?
Adani group told investors last month that its gross debt has grown from Rs 1.11 lakh crore in 2019 to Rs 2.21 lakh crore in 2023.
After including cash, the net debt was Rs 1.89 lakh crore in 2023.
The Adani group has said that it has almost $2 billion worth of foreign-currency bonds repayment due in 2024.
The fact surfaced during a presentation the conglomerate made to investors in a meeting.
The Gautam Adani-led conglomerate borrowed over $10 billion in foreign currency bonds between July 2015 and 2022 across group companies.
Of this, $1.15 billion of bonds matured in 2020 and 2022.
The way TN and Bihar governments handled the latest fake news of NI migrants getting attacked in TN and fizzling it out before it got dangerous and disruptive is commendable.
The TN CM, police and the ministers acted swiftly and decisively, clarifying through press conferences, announcements and meeting with migrants and acting immediately by setting up a help line.
There was even a Thiruppur district cop who spoke in chaste Hindi assuring the safety of migrants.
The culprits were booked.
The BJP for all its "concerns of the safety" of the migrant population did not bother when COVID struck and migrant labourers walked 1000s of kms.
There is a story in the Bible of two mothers who each give birth to a son, on the same day.
Unfortunately one child dies that night and the mother quietly exchanges her dead baby for the live one while the other mother is asleep.
When d real mother is unable to convince d other to give back her child she takes d matter to King Solomon.
After some deliberation Solomon tells d 2 mothers dat since he cannot possibly know whom d child belongs to he wil hav d child sliced in half & give 1 half to each woman.
The imposter mother is more than willing to have this happen as she is jealous of the other and prefers that she lose her child as well.
But the real mother immediately implores Solomon to give the child to the other rather than slice him up.
The BJP's supporters regularly lynch Muslims even on suspicion of possessing beef or of slaughtering a cow.
And the same party is now in power in Meghalaya where its own MLA says eating beef is a way of life in Meghalaya and that there is no question of stopping it and that he himself eats beef.
This is in tune with the Union EAM Jaishankar saying that India cannot take on a larger economy like China, or in other words, must quietly bow to that country and accept whatever it does.
