Women asking orgs and individuals whether they support #RepealTheGRA isn't a purity test (like some people engaged in purity spirals for years now claim). It's a good faith question so that we can: 1. Start the conversation 2. Decide who to support with our money and resources
There are many myths around repealling the GRA that are generated by people who don't want it repealed, including that "repealling would mean leaving EHCR". This is untrue. There are 46 countries in EHCR and not all of them have GRA-type laws.
GRA2004 is obsolete now. It was brought in when same-sex marriage was illegal, to allow "transsexuals" to marry same sex partners. Same sex marriage is now legal. Equality Act 2010 protects people who underwent, or plan to undergo gender reassignment, from discrimination.
GRA2004 simply allows for sex falsification now, which gives one group of citizens far more rights than anyone else - this is used to override sex discrimination against women and girls, and other types of discrimination too. Rights of people with disabilities who want
Same sex carers, or autistic people who can't manage to use wrong-sex pronouns, are negatively affected. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are dehumanised using terms like "birthing body" "chest feeder "and "gestating parent" because of the GRA and imperative to falsify/deny sex
Rights of the elderly and the religious to reject members of the opposite sex in their same-sex spaces are removed due to the entitlements to sex-falsification that the GRA confers on a select cohort of people.
Falsifying sex is no different than falsifying age, height, weight. We aren't making new laws allowing people to force institutions to specify their desired numbers on a scale or the number of years they've been alive. Sex is an immutable characteristic.
Sex matters in all spheres of life. Falsification of sex has led to destruction of:
female single-sex spaces
female sport
female toilets/changing room
female-only prisons
female-only accommodation such as hospital wards, DV and rape shelters
clear language on female health
Entitlements under the GRA have already seen autistic people arrested and convicted because they couldn't validate sex-falsification in others.
Same entitlements have seen women arrested and bothered by the police, they've enabled violent thugs to justify their attacks on women
GRA entitlements and sex-falsification have compromised child safeguarding in many ways. It allowed boys and men into Girlguiding. It reframed an industry of iatrogenic harm inherent in feminising boys and masculinising girls, as a "human right". It captured all our institutions
Including the NHS, who no longer collect data on patient's sex. None of the above harms can be reversed as long as the sex falsification law remains in place.
Therefore it is imperative that we have this conversation, and to know which orgs are willing to work on #RepealTheGRA
ADD: I would also propose that "gender reassignment" be incorporated into PC of "Religion or belief". Sex can't be changed and mostly people can recognise true biological sex of others (regardless of modifications) therefore a belief one is "born in the wrong body" or "should… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Whatever solution is negotiated, clear definition of sex as biological sex will clarify that whatever PC applies to people who "underwent or propose to undergo gender reassignment", it only applies to discrimination *within* their own sex class. So for example, a biological… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Likewise, in the absence of GRA and with clear definition of sex in EA, it would not be possible to argue that denying biological males who "identify as women" access to female-only spaces/services is "discrimination on the basis of GR".

Some years ago I noticed a disconcerting trend among some clinicians I worked with on the gender ideology issue. They seemed obsessed with "building golden bridges" and giving colleagues an "out" instead of doing everything in their power to stop the medical scandal asap.
The issue with this is 1. that attitude will lead to unhealthy compromises, such as saying that unethical experimentation "might be appropriate for some children" and 2. it'll delay safety for patients until all those who participated in a medical scandal can "safely evacuate".
I've had vigorous discussions with these clinicians for several years, all the while publicly representing the view that stopping the medical and social scandal that has endangered women and children is of utmost priority. I was labelled an "extremist" whom they "agreed with"
I've been thinking how much detransitioners remind me of young men and women who were drafted into a war. They didn't have much say in it in a society that used and manipulated them. Now they have trauma, injuries, disabilities and scars. They need all our support.
To expand, I'm thinking in particular about my friend Alan. When the war broke out, the entire island community rallied around him and a few other boys, glorifying the war and their contribution to it. The adults celebrated, facilitated and sent them to the battlefield.
The boys likewise bought into the whole propaganda and narrative. They believed they are doing the right thing - the only thing that they can do for themselves and everyone. The problems, stresses all of it seemed to have one solution - fighting the enemy and becoming victorious.
