Given that the CDC risk mitigation guidelines for children involved isolating them in a "sick room" by themselves for 10 days...

I hope it was more than 1 in 4 parents that lied about following this cruel and inhumane guideline
The CDC told parents to lock their sick children in a room for 10 days... even if they were feeling better

That was the *official* recommendation for months

It's true, every time you didn't follow a CDC guideline, someone died and absolutely no one who follow CDC guidelines died

The CDC guidelines had a 100% success rate and the act of cuddling your sick child literally killed someone

I will absolutely mock anyone who implies that the cruelty of the CDC guidelines was justified b/c it saved lives because

1) that's not true

2) you can use that logic to justify anything, including torture

This is, indeed, an interesting clip. But I want to focus on a throw-away comment in here.

Ezra says that Greg Abbott bussing migrants was obviously "cruel" and I just want to know...

Cruel to whom?
Was bussing migrants cruel to the migrants?

How so? Is New York City a crueler place than Texas? Is it dirtier or uglier? Does it have fewer resources?

Is NYC more racist than Texas that it would be kinder to keep the migrants in the warm embrace of Texas?
I would assume, from the rhetoric of my liberal friends, that NYC is a much better place for migrants. The people of NYC are more tolerant, they are more generous and eager to give their resources to migrants in need.

I don't know how to say this gently, but young men don't want control over women's bodies

They want to be this guy

Image
young men want to be brave in the face of danger. They want challenge and glory and a culture that will respect them for sacrifice, a culture that treats them with dignity for their risk taking or protective instincts
I'm painting with a broad brush here, but casting the desires of young men entirely in the context of their relationships with women is missing the point entirely

Consider for a moment that this might not be about you

I'm incredibly sympathetic to this argument

I don't think Dem primary voters have been given a real choice to have their voices heard in the selection of a presidential candidate since 2008 Image
The 2008 primary was wild. Hillary was a juggernaut and Obama basically snuck in from behind and yanked the nom away from her by being... well... himself

It was incredibly close en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Demo…

Look: We cannot operate a society if we are not honest with the facts on the ground

Yes, car seat bullshit is a giant pain in the ass for parents on many fronts. It impacts quality of life in a huge way.
In 1987, my parents had 5 kids under 10. We did big road trips that were tolerable in part b/c we weren't all strapped into a car seat.
Car seat restraints are painful for kids and parents. You ever try to fly somewhere with a car seat?

There are car seat bags that you shove the car seat into and it has to be an independent piece of luggage. They're bulky and it makes the entire travel experience worse

imo, anyone who talks about "misinformation" must first write an essay about Rick Santorum and how much Google should pay him in restitution for allowing a radio host hijack his search results for 10 years
I am shocked how many people don't know about this.

Dan Savage hated GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum for his socially conservative views so he told his readers to hijack Google's search result for "Santorum" to point to a pornographic result

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campaign_…
Google allowed him to do this. They knew it was a problem, they knew this was a coordinated misinformation campaign to cripple Santorum's ability to reach voters and they did nothing to stop it

It lasted for over a decade

I'm trying to go through Arizona's budget documents, but what is abundantly true from even a brief investigation is that @propublica is being deeply dishonest in this framing

They are treating the voucher program as if it is purely additive to the education budget
@propublica What do I mean by "purely additive"?

Well, the concept of the voucher program is that they take the money they would spend on your child in public school and you get to spend it on a school of your choice

For example:
@propublica From the documents I've found so far (and if I understand this correctly) that is exactly what happened

Lower-than-expected public school enrollment meant reverting $389 million in the 2023 budget summary
