.@NC_Governor has started his State of the State and now and we'll be providing a live Libertarian commentary on the issues he is addressing.

#ncpol twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
.@NC_Governor starts off by talking about the history of how North Carolina responded to adversity.

He mentioned adversity related to pandemics.

He did, however, forget to mention that he himself caused unneeded adversity in the state with his response to Covid-19.

#ncpol
.@NC_Governor states that North Carolina is leading the way in technology and business.

True? Maybe. But too often has @NC_Governor picked the winners and losers. He's used the power of government to pick his winners.

#ncpol
This is how @NC_Governor chooses winners.

.@NC_Governor "A sound basic education," as required by the North Carolina Constitution, will never be achieved by using tax dollars in the public school system.

Cooper is using the "think of the children," argument.
Children will be best served when they are able to choose their school and to choose where they spend their money.

Reduce our taxes from where they are now and give the children a real choice.

Families know what is best for their children.
.@NC_Governor calls for a "smart tax policy."

He also says "we don't need to raise taxes," and then starts saying that we can't afford "tax cuts" so that we can fund "investments."

Political speech for "raise taxes and spend money."

Governments don't invest. People do.
.@NC_Governor declares that all people in the state will be able to access high quality affordable internet.

No details. He's just going to magically eliminate the idea of scarcity and economic reality.

#ncpol
@NC_Governor may I recommend Economics in One Lesson?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economics…
.@NC_Governor talks about how "North Carolina is investing."

North Carolina does not invest. Governments can only redirect resources and add inefficiency.

Pollution and restitution can be solved in court, but only if the government stops protecting polluters.
.@NC_Governor is now taking his victory lap on Medicaid Expansion. Why not? @NCGOP folded like a wet newspaper.

Medicaid expansion in North Carolina will hurt our citizens.

There will be increased overhead and in the long term we will be worse off.

wakelp.org/the_hidden_cos…
.@NC_Governor states that if we don't have Medicaid Expansion, rural hospitals will be in danger.

Rural hospitals and "businesses would never make that decision."

No. They never would make that decision. But in North Carolina, they can hardly make any decision.
North Carolina has Certificate of Need (CON) laws that prevent healthcare systems from serving their patients. They can't make a decision without getting government permission. They don't have a choice.

Government prevents them from serving.

#ncpol
"Let's make affirmative steps to increase safety of our law enforcement and people."

Sure.

Let's abolish all nonviolent crimes.

Officers and people are going to respect each other more when they're actually working together to stop real crimes.
.@NC_Governor goes on about gun control...

This is gun control. Do we really need to say more?

Of course we will.

Gun control will prevent those who are vulnerable from defending themselves.

Gun control is racist. Gun control is sexist. Gun control is people control.

#ncpol
.@NC_Governor talks about how many have a deep faith in God and want to give our kids the best opportunities, among other things.

He, again, forgot to mention that he shut down churches and shut down schools.

He is not a servant to North Carolinians. He is holding us back.
"A North Carolina where hope abounds and is made possible with the investments we make today."

@NC_Governor if you wanted that, you'd help to make the people of our state free.

Abolish non violent crimes.
Stop abusing your powers.
Trust the people to rule their live own lives.
On @markrobinsonNC's response.

I got distracted and forgot to tweet about it.

Basically, Democrats bad Republicans good.

He sounds good on Covid and economics. But, the "Republican lead legislature" just agreed to do Medicaid Expansion.

All talk until it matters.
Republicans say the right things, but they'll go wherever the wind goes.

The solution to bad schooling is not different or better government. Government will never be able to teach or protect our children.

Only the market can.
.@JoshStein_ calling @markrobinsonNC a white supremacist is ridiculous.

The debate between these two does inspire thoughts of a three ring circus but Josh Stein does love Jim Crow gun laws so who knows what's going on.

This is the government we have. But people deserve better.
"Most people just want their elected officials to do their job."

Yes. But the reality is that government will never be able to truly do that. Government is not accountable to the people.

Government is set up to protect government, not the people.
The good people of North Carolina respect good officers.

But there are police officers who are enforcing crimes where there is no victim.

Are we supposed to respect @GPDNC?

They attack homeless vets, abuse animals, and hide their wrongdoing.

As @NC_Governor and @markrobinsonNC are now both done their speeches.

Both say we need to work together, invest in our communities, invest in our schools, and invest in our people.

Both both call on the government, albeit in different ways, to make that "investment."
What they both don't understand is that government doesn't make investments.

Government diverts resources away from how the market would normally allocate them.

This sounds academic, but there are people behind these words.
People get taxed to pay for government "investments."

People lose their property so that government can pick and choose winners.

People are currently being discriminated against because of Jim Crow gun laws.

People will lose their homes to Medicaid expansion.
People are suffering in rural hospitals, not because we haven't expanded Medicaid, but because we have CON laws that prevent people from expanding or creating new healthcare services.
People have trouble paying medical bills because North Carolina has a de facto government run healthcare system.
.@NC_Governor, @markrobinsonNC, @NCGOP, and the @NCDemParty all believe government is the solution to your problems. They just think it is a different or somehow better government.

As Libertarians, we know that isn't true. We know that you know what is best for yourself.
Libertarianism, at its simplest, is described as "don't hurt people and don't take their stuff."

Both parties think they can run your life better than you can.

We know they can't. We know you, through voluntary actions, are fit to work with your fellow North Carolinians.
We want to send a message to the people who are controlling your life every day.

If you want something different than the status quo, consider joining us today. We are working locally to reduce the power that the state has and we want your help.
