I’ve discovered that not many people know the difference between equality and equity so let’s go over the two so you can understand them and their differences and be able to explain them yourself!

#EmbraceEquity #InternationalWomansDay
Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities.

Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
Equality and equity are not the same and it’s really important we understand the difference and why we need both, not just one or the other.

Today the theme for International Women’s Day is Embrace Equity and so I really encourage you to think about what that means to you and
how you can continue to champion women’s rights, our agency, the ongoing fight for equality and equity.

Large corporations won’t move their headquarters here, their highly educated employees and families, to a place where those same highly educated employees will immediately say “I’m not moving to Calgary” after what would be a quick Google search to see what’s happening here.
Socially conservative governments don’t create the investment climates large corporations want. Certain US states are an example of what happens when backward laws are created that limit freedoms and how business responds.
