#AFG There are reports of an explosion inside Taliban’s governor office in Balkh in the city of Mazari sharif.

Explosion took place as powerful governor of Balkh for Taliban Muzamil was inside a meeting. A Taliban delegation was in Balkh for meetings. According to Taliban security sources, “a number of Taliban including governor among casualties.”

According to a Taliban security official “ Taliban governor for Balk Muzamil killed in the explosion inside governors office.”

Dawood Muzamil was a member of Noorzai tribe. He hailed from Dagoo area in Greask district Helmand . Muzamil made a name for himself fighting against British forces in 2003-2004 in Helmand. Fought against ISKP in east &was appointed incharge of North& North- eastern Afghanistan.

Dawoo Muzamil served as the Taliban shadow governor for Farah, Uruzgan& before that he was Taliban’s deputy shadow governor for Helmand. He was a formidable Taliban military commander on the battlefield field and was known for his close links with Iranian intelligence services.

ISKP infiltrated Taliban rank and file including the notorious GDI. Youths being recruited around the leadership in government offices has been major concern. Taliban social media General Mobeen complained of nothing being done to the “perpetrators”.

Tebyan cultural and social center was targeted in a deadly attack in PD2 in the city of Mazari Sharif. According to a doctor at a main hospital in the city of Mazari Sharif : “ The attack has caused casualties and fatalities in bigger numbers.”

The Iranian funded and backed center has been targeted in the past by the Islamic state in Kabul.The center offers cultural and educational services.

Heartbreaking to see so many of our colleagues harmed in this deadly attack. Afghan media has already suffered immensely.

“At least 7 people were killed in the attack. At least 13 people were wounded. Not clear what caused the powerful explosion.” A Taliban security source in Mazar and organizers at the center in Mazari sharif tells me.
