THREAD My top 10 of Ukrainian sightseeings, recommended to visit after the war.
🚨very subjective!
1. Chernihiv old town, incl: a cave monastery, the oldest UKR cathedral with ancient Greek pillars, the replica of Friday Church, and the manson of Mazepa elected prince of Ukraine
2. Ivano-Frankivsk western city. The best city governance, which improved the city infrastructure and made the historically rich city absolutely comfortable to be visited and explored by walking.
3. Vinnytsya in Central Ukraine. One of the most green cities, with amazing South Bug river, and a rich cultural heritage (also visit the towns Berdychev and Bar in a radius of 100 km from Vinnytsya - you will never forget them).

Germany‘s @Bundeskanzler Scholz speaks English at the Munich Security Conference and calls Ukraine „THE Ukraine“, the colonial name which Ukrainians hate. It is the worst mistake one can make speaking English on Ukraine, and I wonder if this mistake is ok after 1 year of the war.
Those who say "but in German Ukraine is "die Ukraine", feminine, so he automatically used an article". I do not agree. No German would say "the Switzerland" or "the Türkiye" while using English. "The Ukraine" has its routs in the colonial attitude, and it is really a no-go.
I get a lot of comments from those who say that some countries have articles etc., so "the Ukraine" should not be considered insulting. Well, putting aside the fact that this discussion has been done many times with deep linguistic analysis and led to the decision of many...

"Do you remember Yevgeny Plushchenko? An Olympic Games champion? A great putininst. On the first photo you can see his wife and son on May 9th 2022 in Moscow. The slogan says "we remember, we are proud". Bucha terror happened just a couple of months before". @JuliaSeidel17 /1 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Yevgeny Plushenko is just one of thousands of the Russian top athletes who are active officers of the Russian army. Russian Army major Yelena Isinbayeva, a favorite of Shoigu, was even a torch-bearer for Olympics. Can one humiliate the Olympic spirit more?
More cases of the military officers who camouflage as athletes:

A reminder that OTD 2020 the MSC published a most dubios call, urging to create a Russia-Ukraine free trade zone (Yanukovich’s dream), increase EU-RU cooperation, lift sanctions, and create an expert group on reshaping of Ukrainian identity, with Russian experts in this group /1
After fierce protests from Ukraine (and after me as the @ua_boell director raised attention to this call among the German-Ukrainian Bundestag group), the MSC has recalled the text. Still, the deadly consequences of that wide-spread attitude are killing Ukrainians until now. /2
"A new () dialogue across Ukraine is desirable (). Efforts should be made to engage with perspectives from Ukraine's neighbours, especially () Hungary, and Russia. This dialogue should address themes of history (), language, identity." It was a blueprint for Ukraine's wiping out.

Well, as some of my English-speaking followers developed their interest for the Berlin local politics, let me start this thread about the challenges and conflicts amid the Berlin local political campaign. This thread will be very simple, without many nuances, just the basics. 1/x
So, first of all, why do this elections take place at all and what do they decide? Berlin is one of 16 regions ("federal states") in GER. Regions have a broad self-governance, for ex. they have competence in police issues, education (different school programs), media law etc. 2/x
Regions have their parliaments and prime-ministers. Three regions are cities (Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen), their PMs are called "governing majors". Every region sends its reps (3 to 6, dependent on the number of people in the region) to "Bundesrat", the "Chamber of Lands" 3/x

THREAD Why it is important to ban all the Russian athletes from the sport events? Because most of them are ACTIVE OFFICERS of the RU army or militarized police (RosGvardiya). Let us check the Gold Winners of Tokyo2020. Vitalina Bazarashkina gold in shooting: Lieutenant RosGvardia
Nikita Nagorny, gold in athletics. 1st Lieutenant of Rosgvadia, and a head of the "Young Army" militarized movement for the Russian kids, a Putin's "Hitlerjugend". Note how many RogGvardia officers were promoted with Nagorny because they also were "athlets" winning medals. 2/x
Inna Deriglazova, 1st Lietenant of Army, decorated with an Army medal "For Military Valor", together with other athletes who are officers of the Russian army.
