What do Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and Dwayne Johnson have in common?

They all love this high-protein, zero-sugar, and plant-based cereal brand, SURREAL.

The twist?

These are not celebrities.

They are normal people who share their celebrity names! Image
"Serena Williams* eats our cereal."
*She is a student from London and we paid her to eat it but the point still stands.

"Michael Jordan* loves our cereal."
*He is just a normal bloke who lives in St. Alban's, but he does really like it.
"We're Dwayne Johnson's* favorite cereal."
*He is a bus driver from London.

"Official cereal of Ronaldo*."
*Probably not the one you're thinking of.

Brilliant move by @eat_surreal's marketing team 👏

Big mistake I see marketing leaders make? Only focusing on customers.

Here's why:
Remember this: you have 2 customers OUTSIDE the org and INSIDE the org.

Internal marketing is just as important as external marketing

By not paying attention to your internal relationships, you're setting yourself up for failure.
Apply the same principles you use with customers:
🧠 Build awareness of your team's work
👂 Talk to your colleagues to understand their needs
💡 Educate your colleagues about your marketing goals
✅ Deliver initiatives that take their priorities into consideration

Your biggest competitor is *not* the product that has a similar feature set as yours.

Your biggest competitor is what your customer is doing right now to do the “job” that they would use your product for.

🧠 Ask your customer these questions to uncover your true competitors:
You need to how your customer categorizes your solution and then single out what makes you different and better than the current alternatives they use.

→ How have you tried to solve [Problem] in the past?

→ Before [Product], what were you using instead [to get the job done]?
→ Tell me about [Old Solution] – what worked well/liked most? And what didn’t?

→ What was the biggest problem with [Old Solution]? Why is that a problem?

The #1 predictor of whether a company will succeed:

Finding product-market fit

Ask your customers these questions to know if you’re on the right track:
Achieving product-market fit is the key to a successful business.

It means there's demand for what you're selling, and people are willing to pay for it.

As Marc Andreessen says, “The only thing that matters is getting to product-market fit.”
There are some signs like increased organic growth, willingness to pay, and high retention

But it's also key to know if your assumptions about the market & customers are right

There are 2 ways to get PMF input from your customers:
• Surveys
• Interviews

Which should you do?

Think of your landing page as your salesman who tirelessly works 24/7 to convert visitors into customers.

Its main job is to grab attention and influence action.

You have < 8 seconds to get your reader to stay.

How do you get it right?
Through your value proposition.

It’s your secret weapon in the battle for your visitor’s attention, it will determine if your visitor keeps reading about your product or leaves your page.
It has 4 key ingredients:
🎯 Target: Who is this for
💥 Impact: What’s the value of your product
❤️ Relevance: How it solves a problem people care about
🚀 Differentiation: Why it’s different from the rest, why should people buy it

Don't sell urgency, sell decisiveness.

Discounts can become a crutch.

Instead, guide them to a decision they'll feel *confident* to make.

Here are 3 tactics for a more powerful way to get conversions:
1/ Ask for a small commitment

Making a sale is all about momentum.

Get into your prospect's state of mind, and ask yourself:

- "What's holding them back?"

- "What could put them at ease?"

Make an empathic stress-free invite to give it a try.
Check out this great example from CopyHackers:
"Perfect for you if...

You feel at ease knowing you have a FULL 60 days to give it a risk-free shot:

19 principles that will teach you more about increasing conversion rates than a $3,497 course:
Solve marketing problems from a psychological approach instead of a logical one.

If it were purely logical, it would've already been solved.

Ex. Don't make elevators go faster. Instead, make the wait more enjoyable by installing mirrors for entertainment and distraction.
Use discounts as a bridge, not a lifeboat. Discounts should be used as a way to nudge interested prospects, not keep your business afloat.
