President Biden's 2024 budget would increase the net investment income tax ON INCOMES OVER $400,000 from 3/8% to 5%, to shore up Medicare for the next 25 years.
The net investment income tax was created as part of the Affordable Care Act.
The budget would reduce the deficit by $3 trillion over the next ten years. It would increase revenue by setting a minimum tax rate on extremely rich people and corporations.
NO taxes are raised on anyone who makes less than $400,000 / year.
The budget restores the expanded child tax credit, and includes paid family and medical leave, more funding for cancer research and ways to out-compete China, and increases housing opportunities for low-income households.
House Republicans are likely to reject most of these priorities, but this sets the tone for the coming 2024 elections, and tells you what you can get if Democrats keep the Senate, reelect Biden, and take back the House.
Typo in the first tweet. The budget proposal would raise the net investment income tax for people with incomes over $400,000 from 3.8% [not 3/8%] to 5%,

Ever notice how Democrats are the only ones with agency in the government? Do you pay attention to who that idea benefits?
Democrats are required to fix everything (NOW!) and if they don't, it's their fault--not the fault of obstructionist Republicans.
1/7
When Republicans break things it's up to Democrats to repair them or un-do the damage. Blame is not assigned to Republicans for having broken stuff, nor for not-helping to fix their mess, nor for preventing the repairs. Dems are at fault for "allowing" it in the first place.

This also ignores how our government functions and the power that a minority (especially in the Senate) has to prevent things from happening. Argue about the filibuster another time; in the Real World™, it's nearly impossible to do much of anything with a narrow majority.

I'm convinced the reason all those Republican alpha males are so scared of trans women is, they find trans women pretty sexy and they're afraid that says something they don't like about themselves. They're terrified their own sexuality is more flexible than they thought.
1/9
I honestly think it's very telling that amid all the hysteria about trans women and drag shows, no one seems very concerned about trans men. I have some theories on why that is, but in any case it really highlights something important about the insecurities of transphobes.
2/9
To be fair, transphobia isn't exclusive to Republican "alpha males." I've got no patience for TERFs. I know a few gay men who really hate trans women. Transphobia is pretty wide disease, and the people I just mentioned are going out of their way to harm potential allies.

How do we know this is "from" COVID and not merely "with" COVID?
Actuarial statistics.
Insurance companies in particular know almost precisely how many Americans die each year, from every conceivable cause. They know how many Americans will die in any given year.

Once again, we're being inundated with people wanting "Garland" to indict Trump "before it's too late!!!"
1) Jack Smith is in charge of that now, not Garland.
2) I don't know what "too late" means. It's not like an indictment would stop Trump from becoming president again.
1/3
Yes, someone who's been indicted (or even convicted) for federal or state crimes can still run for President, and can still be elected President.
It is the job of the voters, not DOJ, to keep criminals out of office.
2/3
Seems to me the people panicking are just afraid they'll have to do their jobs as citizens in a democracy, and ensure a traitorous criminal racist fascist dictator isn't elected president. They failed once. It's time the whiners just step up to the plate.

It took two years between the Watergate break-in and Nixon's resignation.
Watergate was a simple third-rate burglary. Nixon tried to cover it up. I don't think he was involved in the planning or execution of the crime.
That was it. That was the extent of the scandal.
1/10
Republicans =helped= investigate and prosecute the crime and the cover-up. They didn't try to obstruct it, and didn't have Fox News constantly lying about it.
It still took two years.
Two years.
It's been only two years and two months since the 1/6 insurrection.

Jan 6 was a complex many-layered and many-pronged plot to overthrow American democracy. With international help and global implications. Which Trump and his closest ministers (apparently) helped plan and execute over a period of months beforehand.
Those who criticize President Biden from the "left" say exactly the same things as those who criticize President Biden from the right--but the opposite.
Example: Rightists condemn him for indicting Republicans. Fake-leftists condemn him for not prosecuting anyone.

Pick any attack, from either side. Reverse it, and it's an attack made by the other side.
Both sets of trollfarms are working from the same script. They just hold up mirrors to the text.
