I don’t think I have it in me to write this out like a story story but here’s another #bakt soulmate au thread (happy ending promise)

In this au, everyone can hear their soulmate singing. Kuroo hears his for the first time when he’s young, and falls in love. He finds it so

Comforting to know that his partner is always there for him. His favorite is when he can hear his soulmate singing what he assumes is a lullaby of some sort, because he’s looked up the words and can’t find that song anywhere.

Fast forward to the first practice with karasuno.

He hears tsukki talking and his heart stops. He would know that voice anywhere. He hasn’t heard him singing in a few years and he’s been distraught, imagining the worst. Now he thinks oh clearly this boy is struggling to express himself maybe he just stopped singing. Kenma tells

Who won’t let him follow. Kuroo curses and has no choice but to let mad dog think he’s giving up, but he works for the jva, he knows where the frogs are staying so he goes to the hotel and finds tsukki’s room and pounds on the door, demanding to be let in.

Behind the door, telling kuroo if he doesn’t leave he’ll call security. Kuroo says let him prove it, let him show that they’re soulmates then if he’s so sure they’re not. Tsukki refuses and kuroo is like ‘Kei, I know. I know people have lied to you before but I’m not I swear.

The next morning, tsukki’s in the kitchen after he told all of them that he was going to make himself

Pancakes and that they were not invited, when they hear it. Not out loud, the kitchen is too far away for that, but he’s humming inside their heads. The same lullaby that Tsukki’s mom used to sing for him, the same lullaby that soothed kuroo across the country when they were

Younger. For the first time ever, Tsukki’s humming inside bokuto and akaashis head. It’s a teary morning for the three of them, while tsukki just glares from the kitchen while he eats his burnt pancakes after the three of them came rushing in to hug him.

Curse isn’t magically lifted. He never hears his partners when they aren’t there, but they fill his life with so much actual noise, he never feels like he’s missing out. In fact, he would love to never hear bokuto sing again.
