#2 Even though the trend is promising, Dutch courts have mandated the European Nitrate Directive, meaning a drastic 50% reduction in nitrogen pollution by 2030. This policy would force over 11,000 farms to close and another 17,000 to significantly downsize their herds. 
#3 While ammonia and nitrate pollution can indeed lead to environmental and health problems, the government's approach is misguided and counterproductive. Rather than shutting down entire farms, farmers would require active and innovative support.
#4 The right approaches involve implementing permaculture practices or giving them more time. Coercion under the guise of Agenda 2030 is not the answer. It's time to stand with our farmers and find practical solutions to address these challenges, or we will soon 'eat ze bugs'.
