By this "Putin loses power in his backyard Georgia/Ukraine" or "watched his Central Asian Empire drifts away" stories Western media just show us all how the rest of the world should see us. Through Russian lense, as Russian property.
I am no longer surprised by the "Ukraine nazi", "historical right" bullshit that still works for so many people. Noy angry, just saying bitterly.
It amazes me how our countries, many of which are older than Russia, have turned into sort of "breakaway regions" instead of former colonies, that regained independence. Russia has much more resources to export its view on our history, taking away our own voices. 👇
And many people are like...ok. we will go to another party of Ru MFA, drink some vodka, and cement our imperialistic world view.
I am so grateful to my foreign colleagues who cover our region fairly, not making us somebody's influence. However, some media representatives, are still on this imperialistic narrative. and that is why they even sometimes break our laws, as they don't respect us.
I am happy that I see this kind of narratives less and less. But it is so sad people had to die fighting, to make the changes happen.
I don't want to sound "an angry Ukrainian". Just want to say I really believe media play crucial role in shaping history, as they shape people's minds. And it is cool when they evolve and educate, not continue spreading old definitions as they are to lazy to establish new ones.
Btw, this narrative also contributes to why the "make Ukraine give its territory for peace" will never work. Ukraine is an independent state and a "rogue pain in the ass" for its Western partners. 😂 Kremlin will have to talk to our leaders.

last one about Navalny. He may be the hero of Russia - a country with no self organization and the decade old year living in public agreement with dictatorships. But please don't blame Ukrainians for not supporting him, while Navalny's country men, not Putin, destroy our world.
West has lots of hopes for new Russia, as West loves Russia, even now when Russia threatens the whole world. when people, Russian opposition failed to educate, would rather go and die like cattle, then turn their weapons against those, Navalny's team says, they don't support.
Don't blame us of being undemocratic. That's hypocrisy. real fight is not on a red carpet. Real fight is nasty, it turns people aggressive, as they everyday see how the world around them is being destroyed by Russia. While on the red carpet political elites of Russia get ovation
Well done, NBC. This story features only pro-Russian voices only, fails to mention that 800,000 Russians moved there illegally, journalists violated law of Ukraine, by traveling to Crimea through Russia. Such a disgrace. nbcnews.com/news/world/ins…
this phrase has killed me: "This is not Russia, according to Kyiv, its Western allies and the United Nations." what the fuck? maybe let's say "according to international law"? Wtf is that? And I used to work for them, their teams in Kyiv do a good job, covering war.
the reality is presented like this: UN says, well, those guys say, in the same tone as "mainstream media say". It is badly structured and doesn't mention that lands, and businesses were taken, people were squeezed out of their territory. Just briefly goes "oh yes, persecutions.
I was destroyed by all the cynicism of those, who do and say despicable things about my country. Really, psyop got under my skin. I had to take some time to get back on my feet. My war is war for minds, and when the minds refuse to see objective reality and prefer idiocy...👇
Ukraine is under attack. Russia attacked.
I honestly wasn't sure that the world unites around us, as before the world, including us, failed so many countries.👇
But the world united. Finally, the grown-ups showed their kids they know what is precious. There are no other kids, no less valuable lives. Not your fight, your people died so much. You hate weapons. Give them to us. it is our war. And you did. And you made me believe in Humanity
2022 is a number of flashbacks in my head. I wake up under the sounds of bombs. I turn on my phone, and see that the internet connection is bad, but we watch the angry Putin rant on how he's going to show us how to respect Russia and where our place is. I call my grandma👇
I tell her "it is really happening". She, a faithful believer of "brotherly nations bullshit" can't believe until she 👇hears the blast. and then: sleeping on the floor, blankets in bathroom, shooting outside, scared Hans, me watching lines of cars on their way from Kyiv...
I watch them leaving for a few days straight, while tanks go the other way. Then we stand in huge lines to buy some bread, husband goes to dig trenches in the parks, that are mined. We walk our dog during a 2-day curfew, fearing we might get arrested for that. 👇
This is a residential building in Irpin. People moved in only in 2016. Now they need $460,000 to restore it and have a place to live. Russians destroyed it when retreating from Kyiv Oblast out of frustration. The money is fantastic for Ukrainians. Anger thread. 👇
Even liberal Russians think it is unfair for them to pay reparations. Ukraine doesn't have enough to repair everything. People had to work and take loans to afford a flat. World community is still like: we can't give arrested Russian assets to Ukraine, it is unlawful.
So people, who survived occupation, had to evacuate under shelling, had to return several times as Russians were randomly shooting at civilian cars!!! Now have to pay from their own pockets to restore their house.
A Russian jet dropped a bomb on this man's house last March. He shared a mansion with a family who moved to Irpin from Donetsk. Rocket hit their part of the building. Some kind American protestants financed a temporary house for him.
He says God saved him and his wife were in the building! He got a concussion. both have severe PTSD. He agreed to be photographed.
