What we call normal life is, in part, the willingness to consensually participate in a mutual dream state backed by a monopoly on violence (Government) advised by experts, and nominally directed by casting ballots informed by a free press.

It’s popular to pretend that we can take over from all failing systems by 3D printing our own guns, moving everything onto the blockchain, buying diesel generators, doing our own financial analysis, etc. But all that still rides on a substrate of institutions. Which are failing.
Sooner or later, some are going to have to face facts, gently move some heavily compromised octogenarians into retirement, stop pretending we can live without institutions, and just fix things.
Or not. And then we’ll see.
