Iranian life held hostage by world politics is a painful rip off of Iranians’ agency. IR calling #Iranrevolution, Israel/America’s, atop of those who rely only on the US forced lens on Iran, must all understand that until they liberate their own gaze on Iran, we won’t be free.
Iran’s fate should only be in the hands of its people. And the Revolution is not just led by the visible figures of « opposition » in the west, MANY - far too many to know how many- want radical change irrespective of political allegiance but that of a potential free democracy.
If the “visible western opposition” knew to center margins of the movement that the world fails to see, instead of pushing the narrative that oppression is all the same when it ain’t, when there are degrees of oppression x nuances to the movement, like any other, then the world
wouldn’t be buying into IR propaganda as the only possible “narrative” to #womanlifefreedom The world would lean in our nuances and see for itself that #Iranrevolution is the will of the streets, of the people x cannot be reduce to foreign policy despite its relevance.
That it reaches basic right to life when it hits Baluchestan, such as challenged rights to citizenship because of ethnicity, they’d remember it executes people because of sexual orientation, they’d know the harassement Black folks in Iran go thru bc of state surveillance
that projects harmful and discriminatory narratives onto minoritized populations, they’d know Baha’i folks been persecuted to the point of often not taking center stage bc of vivid fear of additional persecution, etc etc. Oppression dials up in many parts of the country reaching
everyone but in specific ways atop of gendered discrimination. The Islamic rep is a discriminatory system, period. The world choosing not to see it reach, doesn’t make it any less.

I read the dumb takes on the unverified data that circulated. I don’t want to have to address every dumb American take y’all DMing about. Instead, I’m going to show you what happens on a daily in the metro in Tehran. This was earlier today. Just hours ago
2) to the “researchers” who sarcastically say “ppl are getting mad at girls getting arrested”, you clearly never were chased by the Bassiji. So just wait until history is made to write, abeg. We don’t need your modern Conrad take.
3) Black folks suffer(ed) from these pseudo intellectuals who theorize emergency yet never heard the sounds of bullets, theorize folks’ pain when they’ve never felt anything CLOSE. Don’t get it twisted this IS modern day Conrad work.
📍as you go about waiting for someone at a train stop, a bus stop, *anxiety mounts* think of those, *deep breaths* who await for those they love, locked in #Iranian prisons bc they dared expressing dissent. Think of the degree of the violence of not knowing. Will she come out?
Would she rather sthg else? 💔
& the billion what ifs? There must be close to 100 “what ifs”, a mind wrapped w/ the fear associated w/ not knowing can go thru. No she isn’t, safe. How unsafe? How is she being ‘interrogated’? WHAT IF..
they doing water boarding like they did for him? ** takes deep breath*
a stranger DMed the other day asking:is it even* a revolution? I sighed. I just did again.
let’s ask: what do you call people standing vs power & met w/ state oppression, nxt day: same ppl repeat all over
I get tagged on a lot of comments, & I wish I could answer all individually but I wouldn’t get a sec left w/ my little ones. I’ll address some of the ones I get in English here #IranRevolution
👇🏾 1) on the q of whether the mvt is imperialist & a fabrication of
the west: it isn’t. The people fighting for freedom in Iran are real people and I’m scoffing as I’m typing this bc it shows how disconnected folks can be from grassroots & how the only reflection of what’s happening in Iran they see or get is the one that’s mainstream
The mvt is grassroots, it’s women, queer, men, youth, working class and throughout. To diminish #WomenLifeFreedom to “it’s imperialist & US backed” bc the argument is, “that’s how it always been”, is erasing all the above. It’s ignoring people’s intimate stories
