Really striking on #LongCovidAwarenessDay how many young previously fit people are now long disabled to the extent of being unable to shower or go out.
UK life expectancy growing at slower rate than rest of G7
In the 1950s, the UK had one of the longest life expectancies in 🌍 , ranking 7th globally behind countries such as Denmark, Norway & Sweden, but in 2021 the UK was ranked 29th: Income inequality theguardian.com/society/2023/m…
The authors note that British life expectancy began slipping relative to other countries in the 1960s, with especially marked falls during the 1970s, a time of the oil crisis and economic turmoil, and the 2010s”
“(This was) , in the aftermath of the financial crisis and when austerity policies were implemented, resulting in “the average UK household having lower incomes in 2012 than in France or Germany, paving the way for a decade in which health and the economy stagnate”.
Especially seen in conjunction with rate young GPS are deserting the NHS too.
@BBCNews STILL doing the Government’s bidding. Unsurprising when you see how Tory the Board appointments now are…and the executive…and the news editors.
And the story showing how @BBCNews takes its instructions from Downing Stree.
Altho’ now the Board and senior appointments (inc ex GBNews) are so Tory themselves they don’t really need instruction any more. They just ARE it. Which was the intention or the restructure.
“If there is a dispute as to the applicable law the judge sets out the submissions of the parties & why one view of the law was preferred instead of another
(Sometimes a judge may provide their own view of the law & why that is to be preferred instead of the views of the parties)
If there is a dispute as to the applicable facts then the judge will often set out why the evidence of one party was to be preferred to another.
One BBC insider said: “Particularly on the website, our headlines have been determined by calls from (No 10) on a very regular basis.” They said the messages would have been a small snapshot of what was going on, because most pressure was applied verbally rather than written down
And on that note….it isn’t even trying to achieve both-sideism here, let alone impartiality.
Something @davidallengreen discusses with his customary economical elegance.
