Last couple of days we saw some great music of 40s to 70s from two Legendary MDs of Cine Music. This day 16th March is another eventful day with respect to music. Let us see in this short thread what is it

This day 60 + years back, two movies released. Two Master Classes from Legendary Directors of Tamil Cinema. What a culmination of legendary technicians worked in those two films.

KSG's SSR, Vijayakumari starrer 'Saradha' released on this day in 1962 for ALS. This is KSG's directorial debut what a way to get into it.

Music composing was handled by KVM and what a pristine album we got. Panchu Arunachalam debuting as lyricist, penned the iconic song 'Manamagale Marumagale Vaa Vaa'

What a lovely number by TMS this one.

We have seen about this song in LRE thread couple of months back. Sirkazhi in lower octave is brilliant. LREs humming and the smirk in the first charanam, what a versatile singer both are

This Q&A pattern lyrics were a runaway hit those days. What a gem this one by PS and PBS.

This will surely rank top 10 in PS's duet list

And Kavingar hasnt done with that, another Q&A pattern, this time PS with TMS, pretty Vijayakumari

KVM, IMHO, deserved to get more accolades. He was really not celebrated by us :-(

Well, if we reset the clock a year back exactly the same date, 1961, 16th March, another master story teller, Bhim Singh teams up AVM to gave us one of the brilliant movies of 'Pa' Series 'Paava Mannippu'

Apart from the acting credits from Sivaji, Savitri, Devika, Gemini, MSV-TKR stood up and gave us a stupendous album of life time. If PBS rose to prime with 'Kaalangalil Aval Vasantham', TMS + PS simply hijacked this album

Kannadasan penning for all, this PBS number is signature one offscreen, onscreen, the reel and real jodi, GG and Savitri brought out the nuances of romance

One of the most popular number in this album.

This is simple fabulous. What a complete team work by all the legends, Ganesan, TMS, Kannadasan, MSVTKR

This composition is famous for the rhythm pattern and lyrics syncing beautifully

And MSV bringing his best instrument 'whistling' to enhance it

Cant take eye out of both these pretties on screen :-)

PS on vocals making it more prettier

With minimal instrumentals, MSVTKR making this number, a real gem.

This number makes it more merrier with Ganesan's expressions, just out of the world

Mesmerizing singing by queen PS

Devika and PS , a beautiful pair, given so many memorable numbers

What richness in music, movie making we got in 60s. Simply outstanding with legends coming up together giving such immortal movie experience
