Watkins might look like the standout option in the striker category, & it’s easy to understand why. He’s got 6 goals in his last 7 games, takes penalties & starts close to every game. His fixture in GW 28...
…is great and he then moves on to a DGW with games against Chelsea & Leicester, both away, which isn’t the easiest double, but still a DGW. An added bonus with Watkins is that his fixtures after GW 29 are good, NFO (H) in GW 30 and then a guaranteed game vs Brentford in BGW 32.
Option 2: Kai Havertz – Chelsea
GW 28-29 fixtures: EVE, AVL+LIV
The argument for buying Havertz is similar to the Watkins case, he plays as the striker for an attacking team, takes penalties and has a good GW 28 fixture followed by a DGW in GW 29. If you think that Havertz...
…is a rotation risk, then you’ve missed the fact that he’s by far Chelsea’s best striker and has played 80+ mins in 11 of 12 PL games since the restart. His xMins are solid, and as Chelsea aim to continue their win streak, Havertz is a great pick going forward.
Option 3: Joao Felix – Chelsea
GW 28-29 fixtures: EVE, AVL+LIV
A riskier option for those looking to invest in the Chelsea attack is loan signing Joao Felix. He’s very consistent in getting goalscoring opportunities, but unfortunately he’s far from a clinical finisher.
The main reason why Felix is a risky pick is that he’s a bigger minutes risk than Havertz. He got subbed after 45 minutes in GW 27 and Chelsea have loads of options on his position, while Havertz is pretty much the only one in the number 9 role. High risk, high reward with Felix.
Option 4: Kelechi Iheanacho – Leicester
GW 28-29: bre, cry+AVL
Leicester have a very appealing fixture run coming up, the 3 games in the next 2 GWs are followed by BOU (H) in GW 30 and then 4 good fixtures (WOL, lee, EVE, ful) in the GWs 32-35. One way to try to capitalize...
…on that is by bringing in Iheanacho, a player with high upside and potential whenever he starts. The issue of course is the xMins going forward, Rodgers could easily opt for Vardy or Daka in the striker role, with Iheanacho dropping to the bench, so he’s a gamble in FPL.
Option 5: Harry Kane – Spurs
GW 28-29 fixtures: sou, eve
Harry Kane is the opposite of a rotation risk, but comes with a heavy price tag. There’s not much doubt that Kane in isolation is a better FPL asset than Watkins, Havertz & the others, but he doesn’t have a DGW in GW 29.
One game less obviously means less chance of scoring, but the actual fixtures are good, even after GW 29, so there’s definitely merit in going for Kane if you don’t already own him, it comes down to how high you value the extra game that the GW 29 DGWers have.
My ranking:
1️⃣ Havertz
2️⃣ Watkins
3️⃣ Kane
4️⃣ Felix
5️⃣ Iheanacho

Toney has 15 goals and 3 assists this season, takes penalties, has decent underlying stats & is the talisman for his team, so it’s no surprise that he’s a standout captaincy option in a DGW with games against Everton and Southampton.
Compared to Brighton midfielders though, Toney obviously gets 1 point less per goal and no clean sheet point, which should be factored in. Despite that, he’s of course a great option this week, with 2 games in which he could easily end up scoring 2-3 goals in total.
