Ethereum's L2 networks adoption grew impressively, 4% of gas consumed by L2s & surpassed base layer in t/sec.
Arbi, OP, and Polygon are the key players behind 80% of total value locked, offering faster speeds, low fees & safety.
Growing adoption of Ethereum's L2 networks is a testament to its scalable ecosystem. ๐๏ธ
With continued growth, Ethereum can become more efficient & accessible to users.
You can't see this progression especially with the progression of daily active users on the 4 blockchains.
The different L2s which are :
โช POLYGON
โช ARBITRUM
โช OPTIMISM
They share a TVL that is far from reaching ethereum's, however they have been gradually gaining momentum since Summer 2022!
Why? And where does this pump come from? ๐ด
For Optimism it is easy to guess that the momentum started to drastically increase at the airdrop in Jun-22
However, the launch of the quests last Oct-22 has helped to boost the momentum and increase the daily use of the blockchain.
Arbitrum is a bit more complex as the bounces are a bit more substantial! ๐ต
We had the launch of Arbitrum Odyssey in July-22 which helped to shed light on Arbitrum as rumours of a potential Airdrop began to be substantiated
However Odyssey had its share of problems and created what is called a "Heavy Load" on the chain.
This resulted in the suspension of Odyssey and consequently the removal of the main incentive of the project which was the drop of NFTs!
Nitro's arrival in September-22 also helped to relaunch the channel and to significantly increase the TVL and daily users on the channel!
You can check the important dates on the different charts published above!
What about Polygon ? ๐ฃ
We don't have much metric on what happens on polygon, and we see a lot of people criticizing the fact that they are laying down money to be able to bring big protocols and projects home!
I think their aggressive marketing is a good thing in this war!
Where do I see the future going then ? ๐ค
For me each chain will specialize in a specific field and will do all their marketing and evolution on it:
Polygon will specialize in gaming and NFTs, it fits their actual line of business!
In my opinion, arbitrum is going to focus on core DeFi and protocols for : Farming / Lending & Borrowing
It remains to be seen what direction optimism will take in this race and what it will do to catch up with the competition!
Thanks for reading me guys! ๐
