/ So @SanJoseSharks goaltender #JamesReimer says if he wears a rainbow themed jersey he’s violating his Christian faith. To further explain his position he drags #NazimKadri in,
/ suggesting Nazim would understand if there was a Muslim night & Reimer would not wear a Muslim themed jersey because THAT too would violate his Christian faith.
/he’s hiding behind the Bible to justify his hateful actions - trouble is there’s no credible scriptural argument to be made for protesting someone’s personhood because they are gay. None either to justify Islamophobia.
/ meanwhile the balance of scripture is the story of a God who is slow to anger, & quick to forgive. Reimer is quick to cite JN 3:16. Wish he’d read vs 17 - “God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
/ in truth, continued opposition toward same-sex relationships and LGBTQ+ identities are based on something other than biblical texts as there is NO credible scholarship that would suggest the Bible is is opposition to full acceptance of the #LGBTQ community.
/ if Reimer wants to sit out showing support for #Pride - that’s his right - I do believe that if he’s going to do that he ought to come clean about what his motivation is. Suggesting it’s because of Biblical conviction is disingenuous at best & deceitful at worst…
/ and btw James … what of this church in #ldnont. @StAidansLondon has #Pride doors and Muslim symbols on their front lawn? Not to mention Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Taoism….
How can these folks pray every Sunday?
