Here’s my take on why @ManhattanDA @AlvinBraggNYC didn’t pick up the baton:

It was simply way, way too much, way too early, and would have completely overwhelmed his entire agenda for DANY.

I think it was simply unrealistic to consider that new leadership would ever say yes, so early.

For Cyrus Vance, Jr. @bakermckenzie, whom I respect, his declining to seek re-election as the investigation went into high gear basically sealed its fate; that’s on him.

I think that laws should be enforced; there should be a very high standard - such as clear unconstitutionality - not to.

If duly enacted and valid laws were enforced - and defended - I think that the legislative body would be more motivated to fix the problem.
