Lower Merion man forced back into his car at gunpoint after arriving home yesterday 5pm&ordered to drive into Philadelphia to several bank ATMs to withdraw cash. Gunman initially tried to force victim at gunpoint into his home “without success.” Victim jumped from moving car. 1/3
2/3 “Victim sustained moderate injuries after escaping from his moving vehicle, which subsequently struck a parked car & became disabled on sidewalk.” Gunman escaped out of passenger side and “observed fleeing on foot on Norris Street.” Lower Merion Police report.
3/3 The armed carjacker/robber/kidnapper was wearing some ID card pouch on a lanyard when he first approached victim, posing as a solar power salesman. Victim said “no thanks” and as he walked toward his house door, guy pulled gun on him & tried to force his way inside.

SCOOP: Philadelphia goes over 1,000 carjackings for first time ever. 1,005 total carjackings at end of day September 27th. Already far surpassing previous @PhillyPolice stat record year, 847 in 2021,that doubled the 410 in 2020, & now more 4 times the 225 in 2019. @FOX29philly
2/ The majority of 2022’s 1,005 Philadelphia carjackings so far happened while 672 victims were sitting in parked vehicles. 113 delivery drivers were carjacked. 62 people were stopped. 45 were @Uber& @lyft drivers. 26 at gas station. 22 left running. 22 bumped in accident.
3/ 19 drivers were carjacked at red lights. 15 people were getting gasoline . 6 drivers had listed their vehicles for sale when carjacked. Lastly, 3 drivers were carjacked at a stop sign. for the grand total of 1,005 carjackings so far through September 27th. @FOX29philly
