Last week, @myBESTBus introduced second air conditioned double decker electric bus in passenger service in South Mumbai. @switchEVglobal registerd the bus at Vashi RTO & it's plying on route no 138 and Heritage tours in South #Mumbai. Second double decker e-bus 2nd bus
Passengers were hoping that @myBESTBus & @switchEVglobal will remove flaws in the bus, but sadly most issues are not rectified. Most serious issue is no leg space between the front staircase and seats, but the issue persists in 2nd bus as well. 2nd Bus1st Bus
In 2nd bus, BEST and Switch Mobility has addressed the issue of headspace at the front staircase. Giving a cut to the upper deck, the problem has been solved and the cushion cover in the area is increased. In the first bus, passenger's head used to bang to the upper deck corner. 2nd bus1st bus
In the second double decker bus too, Grab rail or bar continue to obstruct passengers path while accessing the front staircase. In absence of leg or landing space there passengers find it difficult. 2nd bus1st bus
In absence of continuous grab rails, passengers find it difficult to go up & down during the running bus. But in the second bus too issue remains unaddressed. 2nd bus1st bus
On both front and lower deck, the seats are with frontal slope. BEST & Switch mobility has also ignored this issue. Passengers don't find seat alignment comfortable. 2nd bus1st bus
BEST drivers saying that the rear view mirror on the driver side is at the wrong position. They are finding it difficult to see the mirror while driving as they have to turn their neck, which leads to momentary loss in attention on the road. 2nd bus2nd bus2nd bus
Drivers also complained that they had suggested to install a rod to separate dashboard and passengers gangway as on sudden braking passengers fall on the dashboard. However BEST has ignored the suggestion. Also the issue of very small space for accessing last row of upper deck. 2nd bus2nd bus
In 1st bus, first row passengers on the lower desk used to hurt their heads due to bell, while getting up. Hence the bell is shifted near to door, but now it is risky for most of the tall passengers above 5.8 inch height, while accessing the front door.
Drivers say in new double decker e-bus they are unable to see the rear door directly or through mirror due to partitions and hence they had suggested to install CCTV in the back door, but BEST ignored the suggestion.

From Tuesday, @myBESTBus introduced the first AC double decker e-bus in public service, but the bus manufactured by @SwitchMobility has some serious issues related to passengers' safety and comfort, which should have been addressed before launching it.
Most serious issue is "common" space for the passenger using the front side staircase and the seat next to it. To make the things worse, a grab given from the last staircase, which hit the passengers leg while alighting down.
Second big issue is headroom while ascending down. Passengers above 5.5 feet height could bang their heads, while descending if they wouldn't bend. Also, the cushion provided is not enough.
