The 7-Day Moving Growth Rate
-#Mumbai: < 2% for over 4 weeks, city ready phase 4?

-#Delhi & #Ahmedabad: <2% for 2 weeks.Phase 2 or 3?

-#Bengaluru, #Chennai & #Kolkata: little over 2% Phase 1?

Phases 1-4:

Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is increasing.
CFR= # Deaths / # Positive cases
- ↑ in numerator: Poor detection and treatment --> higher deaths
- Low Denominator ↓: Under-reporting of COVID Cases due to poor testing.

Higher the CFR in the city, poorer the TTT strategy.

The review of positive Cases, active Cases, and death moving growth rate in juxtaposition will give wholistic view on the situation.
#Bengaluru & #Delhi have some work to do.

Kanhoji Angre (Aug 1669 - 4 Jul 1729) – The brave Maratha Warrior.

At the age of 13 years, he entered the battlefield and never lost a single battle. The first Sarkhel (Admiral) of the #Maratha_Navy.
In 1712, Kanhoji Angre was appointed the Surkhail or Grand Admiral of the Maratha navy.

He is often dismissed as a pirate in the writings of #Europeans but he was a legitimate official of the #Maratha Empire.
When the #English resisted, he detained East India Company ships and forced them to pay a fine. He did the same to the #Portuguese.

@ipcc_ch reports that b/w 1971 & 2010, oceans absorbed over 90% of the heat gained by the planet due to #globalwarming. This led to #sealevel rise and has also resulted in higher frequency & intensity of #cyclones worldwide. #ClimateChange #MumbaiMustPrepare @mumbaismagic
Indian Ocean has also warmed but what is worrying is the higher rate of #warming in comparison to other global ocean basins. Data shows that Indian Ocean’s rapid basin-wide warming of ~1degC over the last 60 yrs exceeds that of the global average of ~0.7 degC. #MumbaiMustPrepare
Arabian Sea & Bay of Bengal have also seen consistent warming in past decades. The trend in rise in sea surface temperature for BoB has been 0.16C/decade & 0.18C/decade for AS. Arabian Sea indeed has been warming quite rapidly and impacts are for us to see. #MumbaiMustPrepare

I know many lawyers, activists in #Mumbai whose only job is to file PILs against infrastructure projects after 25 per cent work is completed.
Flyovers, Mumbai-Pune expressway, Worli-Bandra sea link...the list is long.
I saw a leading activist negotiating with a firm trying
to establish a underwater world along Marine Drive on lines of Singapore. They were shocked to see him openly asking for favours and eventually left. After that, I have never trusted any NGO or activists filing PIL's against infra projects. They have zero credibility.
They claim to be upholders of public interest, but file petitions in the middle of the work. The cost of the ultimate delay is borne by the ordinary citizens.
Thanks Delhi HC for your take on Central Vista.
Hope it is a learning curve

1/8 More nonsense is written about Pav Bhaji than about any other Mumbai dish. It was not invented as a meal for hungry mill workers. But yes there is a textile connection.
2/8 In the 1950s and the early 1960s, merchants would gather at the Cotton Exchange in the heart of Mumbai to wait for the daily New York cotton figures. Because of the time difference, these would only come in after midnight.
3/8 When the merchants left the Cotton Exchange they would always be famished.

Stalls selling pav bhaji opened near the Exchange to feed them. The dish was vegetarian because the merchants were mostly Gujaratis.

Marathas have lived the Shlok 2.37 of Bhagvad Geeta throughout the 2-year-long Campaign.

Religious atrocities of Portuguese:-
Religious persecution of Hindus in the western coast was one of the main reasons for the Vasai Campaign. Fanatical zeal of Portuguese rulers is well known.

All senior citizens in #Mumbai r kindly requested nt 2 crowd or stand in long queues @ #vaccination centres.Vaccine is in short supply just for now & so nt available @ all places in enough quantity. But be rest assured dat all 45+ years citizens wil eventually get vaccinated. 1/n
Even when new drive for 18-44 year age group starts, the centres available now will continue to remain active for 45+ years citizens. BMC will add at least 500 more public & Pvt CVCs fr new drive. So vaccination for 45+ shall not be compromised OR slowed down. 2/n
Besides, vaccination for the new age group will start only after enough vaccines are made available, and not exactly on 1st May. So senior citizens need not worry that once the new drive starts they will be deprived of vaccination. 3/n

#Vikhroli's Kannamwar Nagar residents in #Mumbai help injured young #macaque get rescued!

It was found wandering inside premises of the residential blgd after it was chased by few community dogs.

@tweetsvirat @ranjeetnature @akshay_journo
Upon closely observing they realized that its forehead was bleeding due to an injury & they got in touch with us to seek further assistance.

However, macaque was under stress due to the presence of community animals & was constantly changing its location to keep itself safe. Image
By the time our team reached the location, the residents feared that it would escape and its wound would be left untreated. Hence, they secured the young macaque and safely sheltered it inside one resident's bathroom so that it doesn't undergo further stress due to human presence Image

This is what I hear in majority of journo whatsapp groups - Gosh we are suffering in #WestBengal. There have been no jobs. But no, we don't want outsiders. Seriously?!
I've been in media for 30 years and in my 22 years as a journalist in Mumbai, this is what I saw -

Majority of editors in print and TV were Bongs. And they were clear in hiring more Bongs - colleagues, families and even current and former girlfriends. Such was the trend that we joked that the official language in Times, DNA would be Bengali. The strategy was effective
#Mumbai and #Maharashtra embraced them. So did Benguluru and Delhi. No one said 'outsider'
When majority of deskies for DNA Mumbai launch landed from Kolkata, we worked together to ensure they understood #Maharashtra politics. We were a team. Vada paav was shared. It was fun
