⚑️ New week, new release with tons of things. 🧡

1/ πŸ“ Views nested within Documents (experimental).
Now you can create local Views inside Documents. For example, you may create some temporary report and not pollute space with temporary views. Or you can replace... Folders! Image
2/ πŸ’¨ CSV Import 2.0: The new CSV Import feature has been re-written from scratch and can handle HUGE CSV files up to 50 Mb. New Import is more robust and stable, so data migration into Fibery should be much easier now. Image
3/ πŸ’… Create Documents from selected text.

You can now create new Documents from selected text. Just select some text, invoke the "Create Entity" command and create it. You can even create many documents from a list fast. Very fast.
4/ πŸͺ² Convert Document to Entity

You can now convert a Document to any Entity (that has at least one rich edit field).
5/ Filter search results by View type

You can now filter search results by View type. For example, if you want to find some Table View, you can do it via the filter in Search faster. Image
6/ 🀨 Create Views from Search

You can create new Views from Search as well. All Views are created in My Space by default (you can move them to some other Space later via drag and drop). Image
end of 🧡/ we also fixed some bugs and improved embedded views.

The new permissions have taken us almost 2 years to figure out.

"TWO YEARS?! How so?"

The technical challenges are a story for another time, but here's a short thread about the product ones.

Access management is hard for any complex software, but what about a no-code tool?
Most traditional collaboration tools have a stable data structure:

Jira: Projects, Epics, Isuees, Sprints
Hubspot: Company, Contact, Ticket
Asana: Teams, Projects, Tasks

It makes it possible to define how access is inherited ahead of time while designing a permission model. Image
This is not the case for no-code tools with a flexible domain like Notion, Airtable, or Fibery.

Nested pages are easy, but what about connected Databases?

A hierarchical network beats a vertical hierarchy for capturing knowledge:

But managing access? 🫠fibery.io/blog/the-knowl…

🎁 New in Fibery!
Take a deep breath...

1/ Entity permissions (experimental)

Share a task or a feature with someone who has no access to Space.

No groups and no external users yet, but have to start somewhere.
Fibery twist: you can extend access to linked entities.

For example, share a Project together with its Tasks or Feature with its Stories and Bugs.

Extension works for all one-to-many relations. Image
Some parts of Fibery (search, history) haven't fully embraced entity permissions yet.

Also, we've limited each workspace to 1000 shares.

Otherwise, it's a well-tested feature that has survived a private beta with some brave and patient customers.

Please use it in production.

1/ Semantic search

While regular search expects you to remember the exact words you used in a card's name, semantic search deduces the meaning behind your query.

Instead of juggling keywords, try describing the essence of a card to semantic search. Image
Semantic search also works great when you are not sure if a card even exists.

Check out how we link customer feedback to a relevant Insight ⬇️ without even typing.
To try semantic search:
- turn the feature on in Experimental Lab
- add your OpenAI token
- choose Databases to be indexed

πŸŽ€ New in Fibery!

1/ Insert :emoji: in docs

As πŸ¦‹ you ✨ can πŸ˜… probably tell, we are big emoji fans. And it makes us sad that some people never discover their Windows or Mac pickers.

That's why we've added a new keyboard-only way to insert an emoji: enter ':' and start typing
2/ Add column layout in docs

This was an experimental feature in the last week's update, and now (after some polishing) it's official.

Combine columns with embedded Views to create compact dashboards or simply rearrange thoughts in a feature description. Image
3/ Create Database faster

Every Creator goes through this flow in their first 20 minutes, and it's been quite embarrassing:

1) click to create a DB
2) wait...
3) rename
4) wait...

We've streamlined the process by asking for the DB name straight away and reducing re-renders.

1/ Pick icons for Entities

Your workspace deserves to shine and broadcast your vibes.

Pick emoji icons not just for Views and select options, but also for regular entities. This works best for tag-like things like categories, teams, and countries. Image
2/ Search comments

Let's just ignore the fact we haven't indexed the comments before πŸ™ˆ Image
3/ Import markdown from Notion export

Importing a single file is easy, but what about a whole archive that you get from Notion?

Now we meticulously parse the folder structure and remove ids during import.

The same applies to markdown exports from Fibery itself. Image

✨ New in Fibery

Historically, we have largely been about POWERRR, not necessarily aesthetics or ease of use.

Now we are course-correcting a bit ⬇️ Image
1/ Pick a custom View icon

It could be either a vibrant emoji or a stylish icon. You've been adding it before the name anyway, so we've just made it official.
2/ Format long Formulas

Nested IFs and complex calculations have produced huge walls of text.

So we've added automatic indentation, similar to what software engineers enjoy in their IDEs. Image
