Okay major #StevenUniverseFuture spoilers ahead (like finale episode) BUT

Steven was not "fixed" because his family hugged him. It was established in Change Your Mind/Episode 1 of Future that the cure for corruption is a combination of all 4 diamond essences
#StevenUniverFuture #Spoilers
One way to do this is for the diamonds to all be with the corrupted gem in water. Once Steven is in the water with the other three diamonds, all that's needed is Pink's essence which is in his tears.
#StevenUniverseFuture #Spoilers His family/friends hugging him and reassuring that they would still be there for him, even when he was literally a monster, brought him to tears. Once his tears mixed with the water his physical corruption was healed.
You can think thats too simple but it was working with a mechanic that has already been established within the show. Steven's largest hurdle in Future is not his actual trauma, it's feeling like he can't talk to anyone about it or ask for help because they would think less of him
Steven was saved in part because he had healed his family and had created a better world than he found including building multiple support networks so when he fell apart he had folks to help put him back together again, literally in the case of the Diamonds.
The lesson isn't hugs solve mental illness it's that you if you do the work to build a community that supports one another based on empathy and mutual aid you can rely on it when you need to and you shouldn't be ashamed of that! It rules!

The tipping debate is actually very simple. In America there is a segment of workers who are paid after they provide their service. While this is true for many other workers, in those cases if you don't pay them, they have legal recourse. Servers don't.
If you are wondering why servers get so mad when you don't tip, it's not *just* because you didn't pay them, it's because they were working under the assumption that you would and treated you accordingly. If you weren't going to pay them you should say that when you sit down.
If you get your car repaired, and then afterwards they ask you for $2000 and you only pay them $1000 they are going to be mad at you. The same thing is happening with servers. You know the standard is 20%. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

A lot of folks responding to this with well meaning "I wonder how TNG fell short of queer issues given Trek's progressivism?" and to be clear this is a question we have an answer to. Rick Berman, Trek's executive producer and head of the franchise was a homophobic asshole.
This is an interview from David Gerrold, who wrote the episode Blood and Fire, which was an allegory about the AIDs epidemic and had a single throw away line about two men together. Not only was it never filmed, Gerrold was pushed out of the franchise.
trekmovie.com/2014/09/12/exc… TrekMovie: Let’s talk about “Blood and Fire” – the Athen he truly means it. So it was time for me to get a scrip
Andy Mangels, the only openly gay writer of Star Trek at the time has this to say (the quote is pulled from memory alpha but the original article from 2004 seems to have been deleted) As to the alleged homophobia of Berman, Mangels, Star Trek'

God rewatching Invincible! which is incredible on its own but really drives home how soulless and empty so many live action super hero worlds feel, especially when they go for a "gritty realistic" tone. Animation makes that suspension of disbelief much easier.
I believe the gratuitous violence and aliens much more in 2D animation with bright colors over piss poor CGI in shades of grey and blue
Invincible was also clearly made by very talented people who cared about what they were doing instead of soulless cash grabs made on a tight deadline.

The "I was bullied and harassed for developing tits early" vs "I was bullied and harassed for not being hot enough as a child" misses the point that society obviously hates women but it is absolutely FILLED WITH RAGE about the existence of teen/adolescent girls.
Nothing makes the average person more blinded with furry than the existence of a girl going through puberty. Most people would prefer we go from elementary school to being of marriage age with no gap in between.
I'm not a sociologist or anything but I'm pretty sure it has to do with a 5-10 year period in between when we are young enough to be controlled through force and old enough to be controlled by sex. Absolutely ENRAGED that there is a half decade where we only exist for ourselves.
