This mean profile of a fantasy author is really interesting on a meta level because the writer tries so hard to make Sanderson a villain that he becomes the villain of the piece himself, but ironically doesn't have enough awareness of his own writing to see it happen
Idk why he couldn't find a story from his trip, because the ways in which nothing met his expectations IS a story, you know? The books are crazy popular but written in a utilitarian way that entry-level and casual readers like.
You expect an author who makes tens of millions a year to be egotistical or a weird recluse, but Sanderson agrees they're not the good, hangs out with his family, still friends with his pre-fame writing buddies, just a gregarious and uncomplicated seeming guy.
The writer tries the creepy mormon angle, but it seems to never come up until he pushes about whether it's an influence and gets an "oh sure, maybe." He tries to imply Mormon themes are in the books but doesn't have anything more compelling than a lack of sex scenes.
He goes to a fan convention and wants to find rabid defensive fans but it's mostly normal people who don't really care when he says the books aren't very good, they just think it's neat.
imo the non-story here could have been an interesting story (you take your readers out to Utah expecting to find one thing, but then everybody is normal & drama-free) but instead the writer just reaches really hard the entire time to roast everyone he meets including children lol
Anyway would really like to know what purpose the $5 million plot of land next to Evermore has been purchased for!! Might have been nice to pull at that particular thread!!!

You can tell that near the end of production for Fantastic Beasts 3 they did a bunch of reshoots where within ~10 minutes of screentime they perfunctorily wrap up every single dangling plot thread because they don't intend to make more films
I obviously read the article about how the next 2 aren't greenlit "yet," but it goes beyond that. They literally tacked everything onto the end of this one and have nothing left. Duels are fought, family disputes are resolved, characters get married. It's extremely done
The effects are so cheap and every time an actor has to hold a cgi Fantastic Beast there's like an extra 3 inches of clearance space where their arms are wrapped around an empty void. Like all the animators were on reduced hours and didn't have time to get it right

I'm truly a little horrified by how many media outlets and influencers wholeheartedly recommended their audiences spend $6000 on the starcruiser after experiencing only a 4-hour abridged version where the imagineers told them what would happen and they took their word for it
I thought the shortened preview was only for some media outlets but I recognize a couple of tiktokkers in this footage so that was their experience too. I really feel like that's an aspect people need to be transparent about before saying yeah, it's worth it
From what I've gathered, the 4-hour session included: launch pod, opening scene, dinner with Gaya show, lightsaber mini game, bridge training mini game (about which an imagineer said, "imagine you've had an immersive adventure that led into this"), and then the 15 minute finale

I'm inside a video game that I don't know how to play
The vibes are good but genuinely I think we're missing a massive part of the game and I have no idea how to get into it lol
It's weird. They have all this stuff I thought you'd have to unlock but it's not very linear. Like I thought we'd have to earn engineering room access but I just got a fake text from a character being like "you have engineering room access" and then it was unlocked

I just got through on the phone to Starcruiser and genuinely could cry at the answers I got lol. They don't have the answers yet to any of my questions. I don't even have any answer as to whether or not I can film on board
The answer to whether the upcharged experiences are a necessary part of the experience is "maybe." They aren't allowed to say. Whether or not I've booked them ahead of time *might* impact whether or not I'm allowed to be set onto one of the storyline paths, but might not
Choices I make before I arrive might actually bar me from some of the activities or experiences, but they aren't allowed to say for sure, or for which ones. And if I miss things I can always book again and come back

Ok I didn't realize because disney figuratively lost my number or something and never emails me any updates but apparently I can access my entire Galactic Starcruiser itinerary already on the app 👀 let's have a look shall we
Wait did they really book me two separate card game lessons?? Is this a system error?? Neither overlaps with anything so I don't think it's to give me options Image
I was seeing a lot of mention in fan groups that the Gala Finale on the second night has been removed from the schedule and sure enough it's not anywhere on mine. It was in a lot of the original ad copy and can still be seen on this part of the site tho: Image

Thread of all the weird inexplicable things Disney World did this year to make things worse while also raising prices:
With Genie+ you have to pay $15 extra per person per day to access any form of fastpass, which used to be totally free. Bookings begin at 7am so if you want to get your money's worth you have to be up early and on the app in the morning, also the app is very buggy
Each park has excluded its 2 most popular attractions from Genie+ and they cost an extra flat rate per fastpass, ~$7-15 per person per ride. All fastpasses (the ones included in Genie+ and the ones that cost extra) are called Lightning Lane which is confusing/bad marketing imo
