#PMModi in his latest address at the India Today conclave said “that over three crore houses had been delivered under the #PMAY Urban/rural scheme and that, “These houses with basic facilities have also become a symbol of women empowerment today.”

He also claimed in his tweets 13 crore toilets have been constructed under #SwacchBharat mission & 55 crore people in 5 years have been made open defecation free #ODF.

He claimed that in 4 years since 2014, 12 crore LPG connection have been given under #UjjwalaYojna #PMUY with total household coverage increasing to 90% from 55% before 2014. The facts on ground are saying something else.

Urban development ministry has confirmed that only sanctioned 1.22 crore houses across the country till March 31, 2022, which was its cut-off date. Out of the 1.05 crore houses where the construction had started only 64.33 lakh have been completed.

There is a clear gap of 67 lakh houses in between the initial assessment and the sanctioned houses, claims the JPC in its report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Swachh Bharat, a billion-dollar programme backed by money from d govt & a World Bank loan has been claimed to be a success, while surveys done by Research Institute for Compassionate Economics (RICE) shows 44% of d rural population across 4 large states still defecate in d open.

However Data from the World Bank-supported National Annual Rural Sanitation Survey (NARSS) that was concluded in February 2019 shows that only about 10% of rural Indians defecate in the open.

It is alleged that Govt representatives have given wrong data & villagers have been coerced to say yes to using toilets despite proof of open defecation in villages surveyed by the agencies.

An RTI data indicates that Ujjwala #PMUY beneficiaries are not able or willing to purchase as many cylinders as non-Ujjwala consumers due to high prices making refills, access to distributors, lack of delivery mechanism & cheap availability of solid fuel.

An LPG refill in March 2014 was priced at ₹410, which has now increased to ₹1160.

Delhi-based Council on Energy, Environment and Water #CEEW too found that despite increased LPG access, 38% of the Indian households, mainly in rural areas do not use gas cylinders.

Also #DBT transfers are made only after making a Purcahse for which the poor have no money to refill.

Some have not even got the subsidy despite getting refills.

So on what account does #PMModi claim that 3 crore houses, 13 crore toilets & 12 crore LPG connections have been delivered empowering the poor and the women folk.
