🚨The Ohio GOP and National R's are going to throw everything they've got at Sen. Sherrod Brown, Ohio's only statewide elected Democrat.

This is a MUST-HOLD SEAT for Dems to maintain control of the U.S. Senate in '24.

Let's meet some of his possible opposition:
*RT + Share!* 🧵
Only 1 Republican has officially entered the race. 2-term State Senator Matt Dolan announced his campaign mid-january.

He came third in a bid (ultimately won by J.D. Vance) for last year's U.S. Senate race. By speaking out against Trump, Dolan carved a moderate lane for himself.
Don't get your hopes up though -- Dolan has one plan and one plan only for this race. He (and his family, who own the MLB's Cleveland Guardians) will use their personal fortune to buy this seat from Ohio voters.

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER MILLIONAIRE IN THE U.S. SENATE!
GOP expectations are high for this guy:

Ohio's Chief Democracy Underminer -- Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

He has yet to announce, but sources say a campaign is possible (and he changed his twitter pfp, so it's looking likely)
LaRose parades around bragging about Ohio's election integrity while siding with Trump and enabling his 'Big Lie' about a stolen election.👎

The Secretary of State is supposed to be someone who ensures free & fair elections, not casts doubt on them.
Next up, an interesting possibility.

Now imagine for a second you're a Trump-endorsed Republican running in a (kind of) red wave year in a district that HAS BEEN GERRYMANDERED TO FAVOR YOU!

...and you end up losing by 13 points.

Folks, meet J.R. Majewski!
Dude's just a complete clown.

Shared Q-anon theories, painted his yard for Trump, was AT THE CAPITOL ON JANUARY 6TH, and ultimately misrepresented his military service.

Recently, he's been active on social media, liking tweets about a potential run for Senate. 😂
Cleveland businessman and luxury car dealer Bernie Moreno, who ran last year and dropped out early, is also teasing a run.

Another millionaire who will try to buy the seat with ads. Nothing new here!
Moreno emerged onto the political scene as a fairly moderate R, but as the party fell to Trump he was smart enough to change course.

He's deleted tweets congratulating Biden/Harris for winning in 2022 and ones urging Republicans that the election was over.
When he suspended his Senate campaign after a flight to Mar-a-Lago, he didn't pledge his support to the candidate who embodied his values most --

He pledged it to whoever Trump endorsed.
Two more final possibilities:

Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08) and State Attorney General Dave Yost.

Neither have mentioned anything related to this race, but both have been improving their nat'l image lately, and seem to have higher aspirations.
That's the list!

If I left anyone out, please let me know!

Important 🧵

We’ve gained a lot of national attention over the past year.

Our election is over, but there are so many amazing candidates in my state that were victorious.
I’m humbly asking all of you to give them a follow, engage with their platforms, and help them build a force for their terms… and their next elections.

Check out a few of them and give them the energy you gave me 💙

The race has been called.

We didn’t get the results we wanted, but that makes me no less proud of the incredible campaign we’ve run.

To every single one of you who followed along, volunteered, and donated, and to my staff — Thank you so very much. 💙
Just now, I called Representative Carruthers to congratulate her on her re-election, and wish her well in the legislature.
This campaign turned into an adventure I’d never imagined possible. There are four sides to this.

First, meeting the voters of Butler County and my neighbors was the a HUGE honor. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you all over the past year. Love my community!

It's time for young people to take the stage. (🧵)

This election is important. More important than a lot of people think. Young people can change the course of history this November.

How, you ask? (1/6)
I got involved with the local party last year. The sad truth here in #Ohio (and other rural states across the nation) is that many districts in state legislatures are considered "solid R" and given up on by election experts.

This can change, trust me. (2/6)
I called my local Board of Elections in #ButlerCo. Turns out, no Dem was running. It's insane that so many elections go uncontested every single year.

We cannot continue to allow Republicans to walk into office, especially in districts where they think their seat is safe. (3/6)
