FUN FACT: States that voted for Biden have per capita murder rates that are 60 percent LOWER than states that voted for Trump.
Republicans have repeatedly blamed Democratic policies in big cities for a rise in murder rates during the pandemic. In fact, Republican states are reporting MUCH HIGHER homicide rates, and some of the highest murder rates are in cities led by GOP mayors.

In 2020, per capita murder rates were 40% HIGHER in states won by Donald Trump than those won by Joe Biden. In fact, 8 of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in 2020 voted for the Republican presidential nominee in EVERY election this century.

🧵About half of eligible Americans have received booster shots, there have been nearly 80 million confirmed Covid infections overall, and many more infections were never reported. It’s estimated that 73% of Americans are immune to Omicron, and that could rise to 80% by mid-March.
This will prevent or shorten new illnesses in protected people and reduce the amount of virus circulating overall, likely tamping down new waves. Experts agree hospitals will get a break from overwhelmed ICUs. Future spikes will likely require far less—if any—societal disruption.
“We have changed,” said Ali Mokdad, professor of health metrics sciences at the Univ. of Washington. “We have been exposed to this virus and we know how to deal with it. I am optimistic even if we have a surge in summer, cases will go up, but hospitalizations & deaths will not.”

Today, @POTUS spoke directly to the American people and made clear that the war in Afghanistan is now over. He's the fourth president who faced the question of whether and when to end this war, and today he honored his commitment to end it.
After 20 years of war in Afghanistan – after 800,000 Americans serving there, 20,744 American service members injured, and 2,461 American personnel lost – @POTUS refused to send another generation of America’s sons and daughters to fight in a war that should have ended long ago.
After more than two TRILLION dollars spent in Afghanistan – a cost estimated to be over $300 million a day in Afghanistan for two decades – @POTUS refused to continue a war that was no longer in service of a vital national interest.
