10 questions🧵

How in God's name does Ukraine's corruption problem justify an invasion by a dictatorship that is ranked more than 20 places lower in the corruption index?

Why do we still hear the false claim that "Russia just reacted to NATO expansion"?
Why do we see statements calling for an end to the war in Ukraine without mentioning the aggressor and the goals of the Russian leadership, which include de-Ukrainization, subjugation of Ukraine, and annexation of several territories? #Bothsidesism
The imperialistic goals of the Kremlin are communicated not only by propagandists, but also by Russian officials, including leading politicians

Why do some people still think that Russia started the invasion because of "security interests" in its "sphere of influence"?
Why do we still fall for the false justification for the 2022 invasion based on the events of 2014, in which Russian propaganda tells us a completely twisted version of events?

➡️Russian forces annexed Crimea, shot down MH17, and have been responsible for the war in Donbas 2014.
How is it possible that people still claim that it is forbidden to speak Russian in Ukraine, even though there is plenty of evidence that this statement is completely wrong?
Millions of displaced Ukrainians are in Europe, including many Russian-speaking Ukrainians from the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine.

Why is no one listening to them?

How is it possible that some people still believe that 'Russian-speaking Ukrainians want to join Russia?
How is it possible that there is still not only a huge lack of information about Ukraine, but also about Russian disinformation and genocidal propaganda campaigns? #CulturalGenocide
We still see how #victimblaming tries to confuse us from the big picture of what is happening in Ukraine and Russia, and what the Kremlin is doing and aiming at. Why are our leaders not capable of informing us and in some cases, even fueling the confusion?
What led us to this situation?

There are ideological reasons, and some actors are for sure paid by the Kremlin, but that is only an incomplete assessment

Ignorance & this tremendous lack of information are likely to be main reasons for this post-factual discourse we are facing

Why, even one year after the invasion, do some people still attempt to rationalize this criminal war by citing "Russian security interests" and "a response to NATO"?

🇷🇺goals of completely subjugating and at least partially annexing Ukraine have been openly communicated🧵
The Russian leadership and propaganda deny the neighboring country the right to exist as a state and seek to install a puppet government and annex various territories. There is even talk of "de-Ukrainization" #CulturalGenocide
Russian propaganda and officials have even threatened Kazakhstan with "denazification" - i.e., invasion - despite the fact that Kazakhstan is a Russian ally and has no intention of joining NATO.

From this point on, the Western world is covered with a disinformation campaign, which in principle covers 3 thematic areas & objectives and is very similar in its main features to the Russian campaign after the annexation of Crimea 2014🧵

Press release
drive.google.com/file/d/12gjtFL…
1) Demonization of Ukraine ("Ukraine is not worth supporting").

2) Denial of war crimes and disinformation about the situation on the front lines

3) Spreading doubts about the sanctions and the closed stance of the democratic world
combined with stoking fear of escalation.
In the dissemination of these narratives, Moscow finds compliant takers especially among extreme political fringes and in the scene of conspiracy theorists. To some extent, the far-right and far-left scenes overlap in spreading Russian narratives.
