Roy and the Lemonade Crypto Climate Coalition built a fully-automated crop insurance program on #Avalanche, to help farmers like Eunice Jesang, who are increasingly at risk due to the stronger, more erratic storms of climate change.
Eunice Jesang, a farmer in Kenya, insured her whole maize crop for $0.83 🤯

She relies on her harvest for income, and she was able secure insurance in the event of a climate-driven catastrophe, providing financial protection that wasn’t possible before!
Already, roughly 7,000 Kenyan farmers have obtained crop insurance through the program built on Avalanche.

Roy notes that the coalition #ChoseAvalanche for three key reasons.

1️⃣ Avalanche is an eco-friendly protocol
2️⃣ Avalanche consistently achieves low transaction fees, a necessity for small insurance policies
3️⃣ Avalanche is compatible with existing infrastructure

In Africa alone, there are hundreds of millions of subsistence farmers, and this is a proof of concept that Roy and his team hope to continue to build out further.

Their new AMM design Liquidity Book, is another innovation TJ has brought to DeFi on Avalanche 🌊📘
Liquidity Book is built using concentrated liquidity which helps improve capital efficiency for LPs, simplified liquidity management, and the ability for LPs to create any type of liquidity structure they choose for a given market.
Improving capital efficiency can benefit both LPs and traders. This is due to LPs being able to set the bounds of pricing for their liquidity, and traders benefit by potentially getting more competitive pricing with less slippage.

The Cortina Upgrade is coming! This latest version of AvalancheGo migrates the X-Chain to run Snowman++ consensus, making the X-Chain compatible with Avalanche Warp Messaging and making it easier for exchanges to support the X-Chain.

Cortina will activate on Fuji on March 30th.
The X-Chain migrating to Snowman++ means the entire network has moved to a single consensus engine. This reduces the size of the trusted computing base and increases the leverage of existing R&D efforts, which will enable faster development and more broadly-applicable innovation.
This unblocks the integration of Avalanche Warp Messaging (AWM) on the X-Chain and makes it much easier for exchanges to support the X-Chain, which will contain many of the staking tokens used on Elastic Subnets.
