New Reedy Creek board members, appointed by Gov DeSantis, meeting now. Looks like they are looking at legal challenges to old board’s agreements with #Disney that give it wide reign over RCID land for next 30 years #WESH
Agreements were approved in last couple months before DeSantis’ members took over. The language says the agreements stay in effect no matter what the new members say #WESH
District’s Legal counsel says they just found out about these agreements that were approved in public meetings over the past several months. Calls them “unusual” and “suspect” #WESH
Basically it was #Disney’s insurance policy, giving them “certainty” in a very uncertain time when the Governor and Republican lawmakers were looking to overhaul Disney’s self-governing power #WESH
The DeSantis backed board’s special counsel calls Disney and the former board’s agreements “unlawful” #WESH
Reedy Creek’s administrator John Classe, who was in the same job when the Disney appointed members were in control, is here but hasn’t been asked about the agreements yet #WESH
New member Ron Peri says the agreements stripped the board of almost all its power and made #Disney the government here. He wants board to fight it #WESH

The board (more properly the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board now) is making moves to eventually replace Administrator John Classe, who also served when the Disney-appointed members were in power.

People (and a board member) seem interested in the “King Charles” clause in the RCID covenants, and so I was I when I first saw it, but apparently that is an actual thing in contracts:
26-year-old Richard Clayton is in Orange County jail, accused of posting a threat on Facebook, saying he was getting his AR-15 back and to “stay out of @Walmart next week.” He was arrested at the Winter Park house of his family #WESH
Investigators with FDLE also say Clayton appears to “believe in the white supremacist ideology” and has a history of posting threats
Police say while being arrested, Clayton said he prays the arresting officer would be shot, said Hispanics are “what is wrong with this country”, and threatened to pee in the officer’s car. He didn’t, though, because the officer told him he is not Hispanic #WESH
