The newly-renamed Reedy Creek Improvement District board appointed by @GovRonDeSantis just discovered the former board signed last-minute agreements with Disney granting the company enormous power to develop its property. 1/
The new Reedy Creek (now CFTOD) board is now considering legal action to address the agreements between Disney and the old board, which were approved weeks before @GovRonDeSantis signed the law altering the special taxing district. 2/
“I cannot think of a more naked attempt to circumvent the will of the voters, the will of the legislature, and the will of the governor,” said one board member, who read aloud one of the reported agreements between Disney and the former Reedy Creek board. 3/
An unnamed Walt Disney World spokesperson responded by email with this statement. 4/
The clause about King Charles III is absolutely real. The agreement — from the 2/8/23 Reedy Creek board meeting — can be found on rcid.org. It appears to have been posted days after @GovRonDeSantis signed the law he says was “ending the Corporate Kingdom”. 5/
The office of @GovRonDeSantis just issued this statement in response to Disney’s last-minute agreement with the former Reedy Creek board. 6/
UPDATED STORY about Disney’s last minute agreements with the former Reedy Creek Improvement District board —- which takes away many of the new board’s powers and gives them to Disney, per those board members. clickorlando.com/news/local/202…#News6
Interestingly, the former Reedy Creek board members who approved the last-minute deals with Disney still own landlocked property near EPCOT (which was required under the original Reedy Creek charter). No word yet when they might transfer the deeds back to Disney.
This is the statement @WaltDisneyWorld president Jeff Vahle issued in February after the Florida legislature passed the bill altering the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The company’s agreements with the old Reedy Creek board were signed days earlier.
The agreements between Disney and the old Reedy Creek board were recorded with the Orange County Comptroller on Feb 9 - the day before the Florida legislature passed the bill altering the district and 18 days before @GovRonDeSantis signed it. It was all online. Nobody noticed.
Nearly 10 months passed between @VoteRandyFine filing a bill to abolish Reedy Creek and @Hawkins4florida filing a bill to reinstate the special district with alternations. Disney and Reedy Creek signed the agreements 2 days later (and recorded it with the county the next day)

I reviewed video from Reedy Creek board meetings on 1/25 and 2/8. The Disney agreements were publicly addressed. But with few details openly discussed and few or no questions, observers who didn’t read the actual documents could miss the significance. clickorlando.com/news/local/202…

BREAKING: Former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Before being sentenced, Greenberg apologized to the teacher he wrongly smeared as a pedophile and to the then-17-year-old girl he met through a “sugar daddy” website.
“Nothing I say today can justify my actions. My conduct was so shameful,”Greenberg told the court. “To the people of Seminole County, I let you down and betrayed your trust.”
Former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg will be sentenced tomorrow for child sex trafficking and other charges. Just moments ago a pre-sentence hearing wrapped up with some surprising updates. 🧵1/8 #news6
Based on calculations of his pre-sentence report, the government is seeking a prison sentence of 9.25 to 11 years. Greenberg’s attorney seems to agree with their calculations but argued his client deserves additional credit due to his extensive cooperation. 2/8 #news6
The judge surprised both Greenberg and prosecutors by announcing he believes Greenberg may deserve MORE than the federal guidelines dictate because Greenberg committed so many different, unrelated crimes in this “exceptional” case. 3/8 #news6
