THREAD 1/12 - Simon Maginn (@simonmaginn), the fanatical Corbynite of #ItWasAScam fame, claims to have debunked the #LabourAntisemitism crisis. According to him, it was a conspiracy against Corbyn, so let’s examine his allegations…
2/12 - “Chris Williamson did not say Labour had been too apologetic for antisemitism”.
@simonmaginn is lying; Williamson said: “In my opinion, we’ve given too much ground, we’ve been too apologetic”.
3/12 - “Jackie Walker did not say Jews controlled the slave trade”.
Walker wrote on facebook that Jews were the “chief financiers of the sugar and slave trade”. However, she was expelled from Labour for a whole series of offensive, antisemitic outbursts.
4/12 - “Jeremy Corbyn did not say Zionists do not understand English Irony”.
@simonmaginn is lying; that is literally what Corbyn said, and he was filmed whilst saying it…
5/12 - “Jeremy Corbyn did not lay a wreath for the Munich terrorists”
Atef Bseiso and Salah Khalaf, two PLO members who PLANNED the Munich attack, are buried in the cemetery plot on which Corbyn laid a wreath. Corbyn himself has confirmed this presence.
6/12 - “There was no Holocaust leaflet at a Labour conference that didn’t mention Jews”.
I know nothing about this, but it appears to refer to something Baddiel said or wrote. If, as is possible, Maginn is correct, it in no way negates or minimises the #LabourAntisemitism crisis
7/12 - “Corbyn was not a f*cking racist and antisemite for not immediately adopting the IHRA definition”.
Actually, Corbyn is a racist antisemite because his longstanding antisemitism is a matter of record.
8/12 - “The EHRC did not find the Labour Party institutionally antisemitic”.
So what? EHRC charged the Labour Party with unlawful harassment of, and discrimination against Jewish people. The leadership was also criticised for its ineffective response.
9/12 -“It is intentionally misleading to claim Jeremy Corbyn called Hamas and Hezbollah friends”.
In 2009, Corbyn said…“It will be my pleasure and honor to host an event in Parliament where our friends from Hezbollah will be speaking. I’ve also invited our friends from Hamas..”
10/12 - “Marc Wadsworth did not use an antisemitic trope about Ruth Smeeth”
Maginn is lying; Wadsworth was expelled from Labour for launching a verbal attack on Ruth Smeeth at the launch of a party report into antisemitism. He wasn’t expelled for using an “antisemitic trope”
11/12 - “Jeremy Corbyn did not defend a mural that showed hook nosed Jewish bankers”.
A couple of the figures weren't Jewish, but anyone who understands and recognises antisemitism knows that the mural was antisemitic. This article explains why...
12/12 - @simonmaginn's ‘scam’ campaign should be viewed in the context of two facts: he’s not just a fanatical Corbynite, he’s also an antisemitic conspiracy theorist and habitual Jew baiter who, ironically, epitomises the racism he obsessively denies.
THREAD 1/4 - @simonmaginn, the fanatical Corbynite behind #ItWasAScam, is an antisemitic conspiracy theorist who claims the Chief Rabbi "installed" the Tories and the Board of Deputies are "ridiculous liars" and a "right wing lobby group" that controls the Labour Party.
2/4 - Like all hard-left antisemites, @simonmaginn reimagines the entire Jewish faith so that it conforms to his antisemitic agenda. According to him, the phrase "Jewish community" is antisemitic, as is recognising the indelible link between Judaism and Israel/Zionism.
3/3 - @simonmaginn wants people to debate him, but when any Jewish person tries, they are invariably subjected to a stream of malicious invective before being blocked. Here's someone politely explaining Zionism to him, but Maginn calls him an "obscene little monkey".
1/5 @DanWei55 is one of the minor academics who use conspiracy-based rhetoric (‘hasbara’, ‘Israel lobby’ etc) to incite the virulent form of antisemitic anti-Zionism which currently threatens the well-being and safety of Jewish students. @VCJohnVinney@CST_UK@LordJohnMann
2/5 Antisemites like @DanWei55 bait Jews with offensive references to the Holocaust, and are well aware of the hurt that this causes. He habitually denies Jewish primacy (a form of Holocaust denial) and even claims that @Baddiel uses the Holocaust in bad faith as a ‘grift’.
3/5 @DanWei55 has a long history of publicly expressed antisemitism, and was advised by his department @bournemouthuni to delete a previous account which featured a continuous stream of conspiracy based, antisemitic incitement.
Hard-left antisemitism has created a contradictory reality for Britain’s Jews. We’re invisible but also too visible, centre stage but still on the margins, assimilated but ‘other’ and strong but also insecure. This thread will analyse the origins of this unsettling dynamic. 1/6
Left-wing antisemites obsessively indulge their fantasies of moneyed Jewish privilege and nefarious 'Zionist' influence - all of which is predicated on their baseless premise that Israel is uniquely evil. It's a myopic, collective mindset that borders on malevolent hysteria. 2/6
We are gaslighted by left-wing politicians, journalists, media personalities and organisations (eg, JVL) which exist solely to legitimise and redefine antisemitism. These people fan the flames of antisemitism, and have created the intellectual environment in which it thrives. 3/6
