The tomb of shagird is built as a memorial to Khawaja Khan
who was a well-known architect.
Tomb of Shagird is a Mughal period #monuments situated in village Talania of #Sirhind-Fategarh, #Punjab,In 1710, Banda Singh Bahadur and his Sikh army destroyed the city of Sirhind completely and Wazir Khan the governor, was killed in the Battle of Chappar Chiri.
But some of these monuments like Tombs of Ustad - Shagird survived.
It is a square shaped,double-storey structure. It comprises of a hemispherical dome supported on an octagonal drum and four minarets at the corners.The dome is surmounted by an inverted lotus. In the interior,the niches, alcoves and the roof are decorated with geometrical designs

12 km NW of Maur Mandi is the village of Balianwali.
It appears to be a normal village but in its centre is a fort built by the maternal grandfather of #MaharajaRanjitSingh
#Balianwali actually belonged to Alam Singh, brother of Gajpat Singh but when he died falling off a horse,so the estate passed on the Gajpat Singh in 1764 who built this mud and brick fort in response to strengthen his position.

It is a single-storey structure built on rectangular platform. The structure has a semi-circular arched entrance with a thatched roof and a courtyard in front.
