SUSPECTS BEHIND SIAYA VIOLENCE IN CUSTODY

Five suspects are currently in custody for being part of a gang that vandalized and set property on fire during last Thursday’s illegal demonstrations in Siaya County. Michael Ochieng, Phelix Omondi, Elly Wambani, Julius Odiaga and ImageImageImage
Godwin Omollo Ochieng, were arrested today following intelligence leads and exhibits including iron sheets and window grills recovered. The gang of around 1000 people had engaged police officers in running battles, before barricading the road leading to the Siaya UDA office and
set it on fire after vandalizing it.
Armed with crude weapons, projectiles and petrol bombs, the thugs turned to the police officers who were responding to the violence and seriously injured five of them.
Two police vehicles were also damaged during the incident. The five are currently in custody as appropriate charges are being prepared, before arraigning the suspects in court tomorrow morning. #FichuaKwaDCI 0800 722 203.

PROGRESS REPORT ON THE DEATH OF GEOFFREY MWATHI NGUGI.

The DCI Homicide detectives investigating the death of Geoffrey Mwathi Ngugi aka Jeff that occurred on February 22, 2023 has concluded its 1st phase of the investigation.

The process included the interviewing of
the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene and retrieval of CCTV footages that captured the deceased's last moments.

Several other DCI Forensic experts assisting the Homicide investigators have also collected crucial evidence and the
same are being analyzed.

We are now progressing to the second phase of the investigations where several persons of interest will be interrogated and appropriate recommendations made to the ODPP.
