I had taken a break from twitter and SM and was at peace. However the circus at the highest court has forced me not to miss this. As a #PPP supporter and a loyalist since my teens I have never heard a good news from courts. Always biased decisions were made against PPP.

After Martial Law was imposed Gen Zia said he will not arrest anyone under ML. When ZAB was arrested in Kasuri case Justice Samdani granted him bail. Two days later he was arrested under ML. Begum Nusrat Bhutto filed a petition against ML in SC. Justice Yaqoob as CJ was under

tremendous pressure not to admit her petition. CJ withstood that pressure and admitted that for hearing. Gen Zia next day through MLO reduced the retiring age of judges thus Justice Yaqoob was retired. Rest of the judges justified imposition of ML and gave powers to CMLA to

amend the constitution as he wanted. Bench included Justice Nasim Hassan Shah who as judge of LHC had declared ML in Lahore as unconstitutional in April 1977.

As a young officer heard and read how ZAB was treated by LHC. CJ Molvi Mushtaq saying “ Is ku katherey mein bithao. Ye abhi tak apnay aap ku Wazir Azam samajhta hai”. He was humiliated by molvi Mushtaq in court. Ultimately passed death sentence for him. Compare this with how

former PM Imran Khan is being treated in the courts. In appeal in SC Justice Wahiduddin (father of Justice Wajihuddin) fell ill and was admitted in MH. He asked CJ to wait for his recovery but CJ refused. CJ gave him a proposal that as death sentence in the case will be beyond

justice so we unanimously convert it into life imprisonment. Justice Wahidudin refused. Justice Safdar Shah asked CJ “aap ne Justice Wahid ud din per dubao dala”? CJ replied “aap ku nahee pata mere ooper kitna dubao hai” ZAB was sentenced to death by 4 Punjabi judges and

by three non punjabi judges. Apart from CJ Justice Karam Ilahi Chohan (Samdhi of Zahoor Elahi) Jastice Akram (father of Justice Qayyum and Pervez Malik MNA) and Justice Nasim Hassan Shah ( father in law of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa) awarded death sentence. Justice Safdar Shah

had to cross over to Afghanistan on a mule to avoid persecution by Zia.
The came SMBB tenure. In 1990 her govt was dismissed. Again it was SC which validated that dismissal. SC in her case relied upon news paper cuttings and in dismissal of NS refused to accept it as evidence.

She appointed different breed of judges to courts. Liberal and without any lineages they were called Jiyala Judges. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah had objection on one judge only but ultimately declared appointment as illegal. SMBB said there is a difference between Lahore and Larkana

PMs. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah said for SC there is no difference between domicile. He learnt his lesson the hard way when #PMLN stormed the SC and managed a judicial coup against Justice Sajjad. Then came the Iftikhar Ch era. He was a dictator without uniform. Mede the govt

non effective and paralysed by interfering in every field of govt. Disqualified a PM for non implementation of an order which was in clear violation of constitution of Pakistan. Our #PMLN friends conveniently ignore to mention him and Gulzar Siddiqui.

This is the time that political forces including #PTI join hands to streamline the judicial system including appointments of judges. Otherwise this history will get more chequered .
