April 6th, 2023: @Twitter has been randomly shutting down API access for many apps and sadly we were affected today too. Hopefully we will be restored soon! We appreciate your patience until then.
For months @cceanv has publically ridiculed @NSEAOnline & #TimeFor20 campaign.
CCEA's hatred runs so deep that their sudden about-face on salary raises now sees them raising their ask from 10% to 18%, 2% shy of what NSEA has been fighting for months to get teachers. (1/?)
And if you ask CCEA why they settled on 18% & not 20%, they probably spin a tale about how costly that extra 2% is.
A 20% raise would cost ~$312,421,079.96
An 18% raise would cost ~$308,714,918.73
That difference is ~$3,706,161.23 per year or ~$7,412,322.46 for 2 years. (2/?)
Let's quickly review how we got here.
In December 2022, CCEA attack chihuahua Jessica Jones wrote an op-ed on behalf of CCEA that #TimeFor20 would be too costly for the state.
2 months ago, CCEA teamed up with NV Democrats to release their plan of adding $250M to the budget to improve teacher salaries. That money would give teachers a 10% raise.
This weekend, CCEA held a meeting for their members where they informed them that they were fighting for an 18% raise, w/ 10% next SY and 8% the year after.
This, after days ago when CCEA & their attack chihuahua reminded us all that they're fighting for 10% not 18%. (5/?)
So here we are, CCEA saying one thing but doing something completely different. This is their MO every.single.session.
In Dec - Mar 31 there wasn't enough money for a 20% raise. They introduced a bill for a 10% raise & now suddenly they're fighting for 18%? (6/?)
Where's their new bill? How will they spin suddenly finding enough $$ for 18% raises?
Why not go 20%? It's a $7.4M difference for the biennium.
In a state with a $2.3B surplus & HUGE revenue-drawing events like F1 & the Super Bowl coming to the state. (7/?)
CCEA realized that their members were unhappy with 10%. LAUSD teachers got 30%. CCSD & NV teachers deserve the same. The state has the $$ for it.
But rather than join forces with NSEA & fight for every penny, they'd rather fight for $7.4M less for teachers.
That speaks volumes
