Looking Beyond Partisanship: Successful PTI and PMLN Initiatives

..projects initiated by the PTI & PMLN governments have had on the wellbeing and quality of life for of the people. Let us take a closer look at some of the noteworthy initiatives undertaken by both governments in this thread.
Ehsaas program

A social protection & poverty alleviation initiative launched by #ImranKhan Govt in March 2019. The program is designed to address needs of different segments of society, including women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities & marginalized communities. Image
Dr. Sania Nishtar was the architect and lead of the #EhsaasProgram. She has played a crucial role in its implementation. Her efforts have been widely recognized, and in 2020, she was named by Forbes as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women. Image
Billion Tree Tsunami Project

A forest restoration project was initiated in KP in 2014, with the aim of planting one billion trees in 5 years, launched by the then CM of KP, Imran Khan. The project aimed to address deforestation and environmental degradation in the province. Image
The project employed a participatory approach that involved local communities in the planting, maintenance, and protection of trees. The communities were given incentives such as employment opportunities, scholarships, and financial rewards for successful plantations. ImageImageImageImage
The project achieved its target of planting one billion trees in the province by 2019, two years ahead of schedule. Project's success was recognized internationally, and the United Nations' Billion Tree Campaign declared it as the "best example of positive environmental action." Image
In recognition of the project's success, Imran Khan, launched a country-wide "Ten Billion Tree Tsunami" project, which aims to plant ten billion trees in the country by 2023.

Shelter homes initiative is one of the significant social welfare programs launched by the..
..Imran Khan-led government. It aimed to provide shelter to the homeless and vulnerable population in the country. It focused on providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to those who are living on the streets or are unable to afford a decent living. ImageImageImageImage
Under this program, numerous shelter homes has been established across different cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.
Moreover, employment opportunities are also being provided to the homeless and vulnerable population by involving..
..them in various public works programs, such as the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative.

The initiative has received widespread appreciation and support from the public as it addresses the basic needs of the most marginalized members of society.
Metro Bus Project

Metro Bus Projects were one of the key initiatives of the Nawaz Sharif government during his tenure as PM of Pakistan. The project aimed to provide affordable and efficient transportation to the citizens of Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The Lahore Metro Bus System was the first to be launched in February 2013. The 27-Kilometre long elevated track run from Gajjumata to Shahdara. The system was designed to provide affordable transportation to over 200,000 passengers daily. Image
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus System was launched in June 2015 & is providing public transport service to over 150,000 passengers daily.

These Projects were widely praised & remain a significant part of the infrastructure development during the Nawaz Sharif govt's tenure. ImageImage
Motorway Projects

The Nawaz Sharif govt initiated several motorway projects during its tenure, with the aim of improving transportation infrastructure.

- Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (It has reduced the travel time between the two cities from 3-4 hours to just 50 minutes) Image
- Multan-Sukkur Motorway (from 10-12 hours to just 5-6 hours)
- Lahore-Abdul Hakeem
Motorway (from 3-4 hours to just 1.5-2 hours)
- Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (from 3-4 hours to just 1.5-2 hours)
- Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway: The project is part of CPEC & connects the..
..towns of Hakla & Dera Ismail Khan. It is currently under construction & is expected to be completed in 2023.

These motorway projects have not only improved transportation infrastructure & reduced travel times, but have also facilitated trade & economic growth in the regions..
..they connect. Motorways have enhanced tourism by making it easier for tourists to travel across the country & visit tourist destinations.

National Power Projects
Nawaz Sharif's govt launched several National Power Projects to address the energy crisis in the country including:
- Sahiwal Coal Power Plant: Having the capacity of 1,320 MW, the project is considered as one of the most efficient & environment-friendly coal-fired power plants in the country.

- Port Qasim Coal Power Project: 1,320MW coal-fired power plant, is based on imported coal. ImageImage
- Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project: A hydroelectric power plant having a capacity of 969 MW, is considered one of most challenging hydropower projects in the world.
- Tarbela Fourth Extension Hydropower Project: Expected to generate approx 3.84 bn units of electricity annually.
- Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park: Having a capacity of 1,000 MW, it is the largest solar power plant in the country.

These projects have helped address the energy crisis in Pak by increasing the country's electricity generation capacity. They have also helped create job opportunities.
Setting aside political affiliations, it is important to acknowledge that both PMLN & #PTI govts have implemented several projects that have had a positive impact on the people of Pak. By recognizing the good initiatives, we can move towards a more unified & prosperous #Pakistan.
