A thread on Rahul Dravid

Story told by Dr. Rajdeep Manwani, one of Dravid's classmate:

"Rahul Dravid never attended classes regularly & was always seen practising in nets. One day he came to class & started writing notes with his gloves on.
Seeing this, we felt uncomfortable. Everyone was laughing, whispering, Rahul Dravid continued writing for that full hour.
After 1 hour, Dravid came up to Adarsh (a common friend) & said, “Adarsh, can I borrow your accounts notes bcoz exams are nearing &
I haven't written many notes. So can I borrow it, xerox it & give it to you back”
Adarsh replied “Rahul, I'll give you notes but could you tell me why were you wearing gloves? You came to class wearing gloves & you continued wearing it, you were wearing gloves even
when teacher was dictating notes?”
Rahul Dravid said to me something that day which is very interesting.
He replied “You know something Adarsh, last 2 Ranji matches which I played, I had old gloves, which were very loose. So bcoz gloves were loose, when bowler bowled, ball
just went past my gloves & it created swish sound. Wicket keeper caught it, he appealed & both times even though I didn't touch the ball, I was given caught behind. I thought to myself ‘no this can't continue’ & so, I bought these gloves & I want to get accustomed
to wearing these. I want my hands to sweat into these new gloves. So for next 48 hours, I will wear these gloves continuously bcoz next Ranji match, which is a semifinal, is in 2 days. I am not going to remove gloves even when I am sleeping, eating, coming to class bcoz
I want to do well in next match & I want my hands to be comfortable in these gloves".
In very next match, their semifinal vs Saurashtra, he scored a century. In finals, Karnataka played against Delhi, he scored another century & based on those 2 performances he
got selected for Indian team which went to England, & in 1st test match, he scored 90+ runs & rest as they say is history.
There are 2 important lessons I learnt from that incident.
One, #passion, if you want to excel in anything in life, there has to be a passion,
Rahul was willing to wear those gloves for 48 hrs whether it was uncomfortable or it was hot. He was sweating in those gloves but he was willing to wear those gloves for 48 hrs continuously bcoz he wanted to excel in what he wanted to do & 2nd was #responsibility.
He took responsibility for his own performance, I have never seen Rahul complain a single time neither did he argue against any Umpire decision. He never said that wicket keeper is so unethical. He knew that he didn't touch the ball, even then they appealed & he got out.
He took responsibility for his own life. He had a very strong internal locus of control (not blaming external circumstances & taking responsibility for what is happening in his life).
Forget Umpiring decisions that went wrong, forget what wicket keeper did but what can I do to make situation better & only thing I can do is to change my gloves & perform to the best of my ability.

Amazing thread on Pakistan's bankruptcy
🌸 The Pakistan Army recently found it had too many Generals, and offered them an early retirement with bonus in USD.
They said any General who retired now, his payment $12,000 for every inch measured in a straight line between any two parts of his body.
The Generals can select any of his body points.

The first man, an Air marshal, asked to measure from his head to the tip of his toes.
Six feet. *
😌He walked out with a cheque of $720,000!

The second man, an Naval admiral, asked to measure from the tip of his outstretched hands to his toes.
Eight feet.
😁He walked out with a cheque for $960,000!!
