I am willing to suspend the constitution a bit so Arnold can run for President in 2024.

Tell me I'm wrong,

But what I'm seeing out of conservative Christians when it comes to transgender people, is something like

"They have a mental health disorder and they need to repent"

Which is a fascinating oxymoron I haven't seen anybody resolve 1/5
In particular, I haven't seen any good treatments on understanding people with dysphoria in the context of a church ministry or personal discipleship or even evangelism.

Having encountered, time and again, people with behavioral Health issues
2/5
The constant refrain is, go away until you get better. This is changing ever so slowly in some Churches but generally the suffering people I know have only been told to leave because they were a problem.

And then what happens is a "concern" for the "ideology" 3/5

We are sliding inexorably toward Donald Trump being the Republican nominee for President and no one in the milquetoast white Evangelical world who would otherwise disclaim him is doing a thing about it

But they will cudgel you with abortion and trans stuff in 2024
Really, no one in centers of power is doing a thing to stop this - it is incredible!
So many Republican senators and house members are endorsing now. The game is being won!

I refuse to sit here and be judged by all these weak-chested men who will write their petty articles in 2024 about how you have to vote for Trump because of babies and Jesus.

This is sick.

The red/blue, rural/urban voting divide is so amazingly consistent and structural that sometimes I think we lose track of it when it comes to politics within the context of the church of

City Church and country Church are worlds apart
It is exceedingly easy for most suburban and rural churches to contentedly hold a politics of total personal responsibility because they don't have foot traffic coming by of people with addictions, or shootings on their doorstep.
Is also very easy to conjecture about the cost of discipleship when holding a line on something like abortion in a rural setting where most people already agree on the subject

But to be a downtown priest standing in front of planned Parenthood in a major city is something else

The cognitive dissonance of Christian Disney moms right now must be near-mind-shattering
Never seen a higher concentration of Disney vacation Club stickers on minivans than at my local mega church
How is Governor Ron going to win over a battalion of women who know the operations of the Disney fastpass system better than Warren Buffett understands stocks

First the complimentarian said that the Son had to be eternally subordinate

Now the complimentarians are saying that sex itself is trinitarian and using birth control denies the trinity

Folks, please stop putting heresy in your pants
Seriously, there are entire books and industries built around combating the idea that God might be a woman but people are just blinking their eyes at somebody saying that God is semen

It's absolutely ridiculous
And don't you dare say "he didn't say God was seaming he just said the Holy Spirit was semen"

Because listen, just, just don't even do that, don't even, don't even do that and claim to be trinitarian, just don't even go there, just recognize you'd be doing a heresy

In honor of @JoelWBerry inviting me to take a more welcoming tone with conservatives regarding mental health,

Here's a thread

If you are worried about the mental health of children and want them to avoid what you consider to be a plastic surgery Mill 1/10
First, you need to recognize that red states have the lowest levels of funding per capita for people with mental health disorders. A large part of this is the refusal to expand Medicaid to cover adults who can't afford insurance but don't qualify because they aren't disabled 2/10
Without insurance, those adults are unable to get treatment when they have mental health crises. Or they get treatment at agencies like mine which have to eat the cost of millions of dollars annually. This means we can't afford to do more services for children 3/10
