If you enjoy these threads, you might also enjoy pledging for a copy of my new book, The Press Gallery. Dozens of themes, 500+ clippings with fun essays about kids these days, why everything bad is the fault of bicycles and jazz, and more!
I'm writing a book showcasing my best finds from the newspaper archives looking at repeated arguments (Nobody Wants to Work Anymore!), endless blame (jazz! bicycles!) & things I find amusing.
It's being published by @unbounders in London (England) -- they use a crowdfunding model to cover some initial costs, and early backers pledge to receive various rewards (and books!). At 100% (and when it's done!) the book will also be available in the usual places (shops, etc).
Many of the topics will be similar to the threads I've shared over the past 10 months -- but with 500+ clippings & essays offering more context to each of the themes. I'm currently writing the bicycle chapter which is ultimately about 1890s feminism.
I'm writing a book for @Unbounders presenting my best finds from the newspaper archives looking at repeated arguments (Nobody Wants to Work Anymore!), endless blame & things I find amusing.
Unbound is a crowdfunding publisher based in London (England) -- they take pledges in advance of publication to cover some initial costs, early backers get various rewards (and books!), and then the book will also be available in all the usual places (shops, etc.).
The book will have a few dozen themed collections, feat. 500+ clippings about our repeated claims about things like 'kids today are too soft' or 'men today are too feminine'. Our blaming of everything bad on anything new -- jazz, bicycles, bobbed hair.
