Since the video () came out two days ago, the question of Imran Khan's financial integrity has dominated Twitter discourse, it has also led to some counter-arguments from PTI supporters.

Here is a thread that addresses everything🧵

Is Imran Khan corrupt? Image
The first layer of arguments in the video was that Imran Khan is surrounded by corrupt individuals.

PTI, like PML-Q and other King's parties before it, was made using people from PML-N and PPP - if these two parties are corrupt how are individuals whitewashed when they join PTI? Image
Imran Khan called Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi the biggest Daku in Punjab and now he is the President of PTI.

All of Imran Khan's right hand men(past and present) have corruption charges against them (Jehangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, Shahzad Akbar, Pervaiz Khattak, Usman Buzdar)
People who are arguing that no corruption was found during PTI's tenure have not been following the news. You can pick up any project or person you like and you will find corruption or irregularities.

Here are just a few links:

7. Billion Tree Project:

8. Aleem Khan, who himself has corruption charges against him from his time in PTI, also alleged corruption in PTI:
newsweekpakistan.com/aleem-khan-all…

9. Allegations against Shahzad Akbar:
dawn.com/news/1715178
Even in his personal circle, Farah Gogi and her husband have had massive allegations against them.

tribune.com.pk/story/2403837/…

Azaz Syed c confirmed that Imran Khan removed General Asim Munir for bringing corruption allegations on Bushra Bibi to him
There is also an audio leak in which allegedly Farah Gogi is asking for a diamond ring from Malik Riaz for Bushra Bibi:

samaaenglish.tv/news/40010101

There was also radio silence from PTI on PTI folks being named in the Pandora Papers:
dawn.com/news/1649930
thediplomat.com/2021/10/pandor…
The report on Asim Saleem Bajwa's empire also came out during PTI's tenure:

factfocus.com/politics/1756/

Not only did ImranKhan keep AsimSaleemBajwa on to head CPEC, he has also been silent about him, and this case, after being removed from office despite being "Anti Establishment"
Just yesterday news broke of massive alleged fraud by former PTI Prime Minister in AJK Sardar Tanveer Ilyas:

If you think there was no corruption during PTI's tenure, it is because you don't want to see it.

tribune.com.pk/story/2406566/…
There is a reason why Pakistan fell in the Transparency International Corruption Index during PTI's tenure:

dawn.com/news/1671455
If we talk about his personal life, you can read all about how Imran Khan bought his London Flat through a Benami offshore company in the Channel Islands:

factfocus.com/politics/1633/

Imran Khan himself took a tax amnesty in Pakistan for this asset:
This is what Imran Khan used to say about tax amnesties then he gave the longest tax amnesty of any Government ever when he came into power.

tribune.com.pk/story/2345801/… profit.pakistantoday.com.pk/2022/04/11/the…
dawn.com/news/1492824
We also saw how the elite were given subsidies and interest free loans during PTI's tenure:

thenews.com.pk/print/1058477-…

aajenglish.tv/news/30317310/…

aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/13…

This is Pakistan's fundamental problem - not corruption but elite capture.

PTI pumped the Real Estate Sector to get GDP growth.

tribune.com.pk/story/2241596/…

The Real Estate Sector in Pakistan is controlled by the ruling elite and it destroys Productivity in Pakistan:

Also listen to Dr. Kaiser Bengali
If we move on to Imran Khan's personal assets.

tribune.com.pk/story/2371416/…

Last year Imran Khan declared assets worth 342 million rupees.

Imran Khan has an account with 323,000 dollars, which is just over 9 crore rupees. Apart from the other PKR accounts. Image
It is fair to question how Imran Khan has amassed this much wealth. imran Khan quit playing cricket after 1992 - how is he the only cricketer to amass so much wealth?

Propagandists are saying it is because he was paid for commentary stints in the millions. If that is true..
Why did he not declare that income? Imran Khan has been living in Pakistan for the past few decades, if he was making money elsewhere, why did he not file it in his tax returns?

If he filed it in a foreign country, where are those tax returns?

These claims have no evidence.
The only income we can see is rent from the flat on Constitutional Avenue and Agricultural Income. How is Imran Khan affording such a lavish lifestyle on these incomes?

Even the Constitutional Avenue flat is illegally built but Saqib Nisar legalized it:
thenews.com.pk/print/911507-a…
Nasla Tower was demolished but Imran Khan's flat was saved by Saqib Nisar.

Even BaniGala was regularized with the intervention of Saqib Nisar. Imran Khan's federal Government changed CDA by laws to regularize illegalities in Imran Khan's home:
dawn.com/news/1596960
Something that was not covered in the video, that people are asking for the documents for is in this Facts Focus piece that I have shared repeatedly since yesterday:

factfocus.com/politics/2604/

Google Hameed refuses to address the concerns raised in this piece.
You cannot rely on what Imran Khan says as evidence because the records show that he has made misdeclarations in his assets.

All the documentation is there in the link. I am not an investigative journalists, I rely on the work of journalists to make these explainer videos. ImageImageImageImage
"Khan’s 2017’s annual tax return when he paid Rs103,763"

How his assets grew after coming into Government: tribune.com.pk/story/2361718/…

People on Twitter are trying to confuse people by making claims about incomes that are simply not backed by fact. We only have his official declarations to go by - unless they are suggesting Imran Khan does tax chori and does not declare his entire income?
They are also trying to muddy the waters the talking about income vs wealth - how does one amass such wealth with a low income?

When the lifestyle is simply not supported by the official declarations, and there is a history of misdeclarations, there will be allegations of fraud.
PTI's former senior member Justice Wajiuddin claimed Jehangir Tareen paid for the expenses for Bani Gala:
dawn.com/news/1664174

Jehangir Khan Tareen has denied it:
tribune.com.pk/story/2334018/…

I have mentioned both the things in the video but people will not bother to watch it.
Saying nobody should talk about the allegations against Jehangir Khan Tareen, when the facts exist that he was also a benefactor of PTIs policies because JKT denied it is like saying nobody should call Nawaz Sharif and Zardari corrupt because they have denied it.
Wajihuddin Ahmad is not a random person on the street. He used to be a central figure in PTI. Reham Khan made the same allegations and PTI's ex information secretary Ahmad Jawaid also made the same allegations with @AsadAToor

factfocus.com/politics/2895/

Here are all the numbers on Tosha Khana. Imran Khan made more money retaining gifts from the Tosha Khana in 3 years than he had in his entire life combined.

Imran Khan doubled his wealth.
"The total worth of all his properties and assets as declared by him in his latest tax return (FY 2021) is Rs141 million. The total value of Tosha Khana gifts retained by him was Rs142 million (as assessed by his own government)."

factfocus.com/politics/2895/

Look at the increase ImageImageImage
We have reduced the Tosha Khana case to "Meri Garhi Meri Marzi" whereas the allegation is that Imran Khan made a fake receipt then sold the watch to a businessman in the UAE for 2 million dollars.

geo.tv/latest/412198-…

business-standard.com/article/intern…

Even the foreign funding case has not ever been fully explained. The findings allege that PTI had multiple accounts that they used for fundraisers that were never declared to the ECP:

dawn.com/news/1624369

Even if the allegations of fake receipts are not true - Imran Khan used to say he had everything and he had no need to become PM for money or power - then why did he sell something from the Tosha Khana for allegedly 2 million dollars (58 crores PKR)

geo.tv/latest/474996-…
Imran Khan also denied it when Khawaja Asif alleged that Imran Khan moved 3 million dollars from the Shaukat Khanum Trust Fund but ten years later he admitted it but also said the funds were returned to the Shaukat Khanum Fund some years later:
thenews.com.pk/print/1039746-…
Then there is also the financial times story:

ft.com/content/de29dd…

Millions of dollars were sent to PTI from Arif Naqvi of the Abraaj Group, who was later arrested for committing fraud of allegedly 230 million dollars.

thenationalnews.com/business/marke…
Imran Khan is also fully in bed with RUDA - a project that is taking away land from farmers to build a housing society and will be disastrous for the Economy:
tribune.com.pk/story/2340376/…

As well as a trustee of Al-Qadir University:
dnd.com.pk/imran-khan-bec…

thenews.com.pk/print/953482-i…
But the news everyone ignored is the last part of the video - why did PTI's Government give Malik Riaz the 190 million pounds settlement that they received from the UK Government?

dawn.com/news/1618221
Imran Khan once wanted to stand against the system but today he is the system. He protects the elite interests and is firmly in bed with the Real Estate Mafia.

Explaining everything for those w/o context:

1. What are you seeing?

The Establishment trying to cut ImranKhan down to size

2. Why are you seeing it?

Because the Establishment and IK had a falling out in Nov 2021 over the appointment of General Nadeem Anjum as DG-ISI

1/n 🔋
3.What was Imran Khan's issue appointing him?

Imran Khan wanted to keep General Faiz as DG ISI till the Elections because he was the man in charge for all the political engineering for IK. The plan was to appoint him as COAS after Gen Bajwa retires and then rig the next election
4. Wasn't he free to appoint any COAS he wanted as PM?

As per the Constitution, the PM appoints the COAS but as per reality in Pakistan the COAS appoints the PM.

2017-2018 we saw massive political engineering and election rigging to bring PTI to power and make IK Prime Minister.

No justification for police brutality against anyone but when we use platitudes, we should be conscious of the historical context of what we are seeing.

If MQM had done what PTI is doing the rangers would have shot them all. If it was PTM F-16s would have been sent to bomb them.
What is happening at Zaman Park is a farce but we can talk about it while being conscious of the privilege that comes from the politicians being in Punjab in this case.

When Musharaf wanted Nawab Akbar Bugti, Dera Bugti was bombed several times to get to him.
You can condemn what is happening to Imran Khan without making claims about it being the worst kind of fascism Pakistan has ever seen.

People who were oblivious to the pain and suffering of everyone outside of their elite bubbles are the only ones who think this is unprecedented

Imran Khan built a populist movement at the height of his unpopularity by riding on anti-Americanism in Pakistan; the entire narrative was that Pakistanis needed to stand up for their freedom against a foreign conspiracy against the country, not just his party. 🧵
"Absolutely Not", "Haqeeqi Azaadi", and "Imported Hakoomat" is what the entire movement was built it. It was used to label all opponents traitors, some of them were even attacked because of this.

PTI even tried unconstitutionally dissolving the assemblies based on all this.
Imran Khan's latest U-turn goes back on all that. Saying the cipher is real does none of that. Yes, there was a cipher but the cipher did not say what PTI/Imran Khan pretended it said, and now Imran Khan himself has admitted America was not behind his ouster.

10 Things you get wrong about Pakistan History.

1. History was taught in Pakistan. Ayub Khan abolished the subject and replaced it with Pakistan Studies and Social Studies.

2. Liaquat Ali Khan was not Quaid-e-Azam's first choice. 🧵
Jinnah had offered the PMship of to the Nawab of Bhopal and Nawab of Bhawalpur.

3. Congress did not accept a separate Muslim country in the Lucknow Pact. Leaders in Punjab and Bengal were angry because it favoured Muslim minority provinces at the expense of the Muslim majority
4. Allama Iqbal did not mention Pakistan in the Allahabad address. He merely asked for Punjab, NWFP, Sindh and Balochistan to be merged into a province in the Indian federation

5. Pakistan's official day of Independence is 15th August as per the Indian Independence Act.

Imran Khan was handed from Hamid Gul to Shuja Pasha to Zaheer-ul-Islam to Faiz Hameed. PTI was the public wing of the military Establishment.

Imran Khan has admitted himself he was just the puppet PM and ISI has admitted they engineered for Khan:

Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto started with Ayub Khan and Nawaz Sharif started with Zia-ul-Haq but to compare them to Imran Khan just because all 3 were created by the military est is unfair. Those two broke away from Gate No. 4 soon aftewards. Imran Khan has been in their lap for decades.

Years of propaganda against politicians in Pakistan have dehumanised politicians in the minds of the people.

Seeing Ali Wazir in chains, or Maryam Nawaz telling they put cameras in her jail bathroom, does nothing to them because they don't see them as human beings.
Kulsoom Nawaz's illness before she died was mocked. Nawaz Sharif's Platelets is a national joke.

Nobody cared that Ahsan Iqbal, Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi, and Miftah Ismail in Adiala for months.

Zardari spent 11 years in jail. A journalist publicly wished him death when he was sick
Most human beings are not terrible. They feel empathy when they see injustice.

It's just that Pakistan Studies paints the politicians in the worst light, the Establishment blames the politicians for everything and Imran Khan's propaganda has dehumanised them to this extent now.
