Saylor turns all emails into a Lightning address at Microstrategy, did you get one yet?
The Lightning Address is a great innovation for onboarding people to #Bitcoin and #lightning adoption.
After all, If you can send an email, now you can transact in bitcoin.
How?? 👇🧵
⚡️A Lightning Address is just like an email address, just way cooler, it is in fact written in exactly the same format.
Example: amy@getalby.com - Email
amy@getalby.com - Lightning Address
⚡️Before the Lighting Address was a thing, people had to use a Lightning invoice which had on average at least 190 characters long. Yikes!! so lots of copy and pasting unless you had a superhuman memory 🙃Now it just simply could be your name ....@.....just like your email.
⚡️The Lightning Address also just like an email address has interoperability, it does not matter which domain you use after the @ you can still send Bitcoin transactions to any other Lightning Address even with a different domain.
⚡️So now there is no more needs to be requesting invoices and scanning QR codes to send your friend's Bitcoin. If you can send an email, you can very easily send a Bitcoin transaction to any Lightning Address.
⚡️It is very simple to send bitcoin using your Lightning address, no copy and paste simply enter your Lightning address, using Alby here you can see sending bitcoin to a Lightning address in less than 20 seconds.
⚡️Do you have a Lightning Address yet? There are lots of companies that can get you set up in seconds, to start sending and receiving Bitcoin with your own lightning address.
✨Step 2: Click the settings page
✨Step 3: Scroll down to email notifications. Please note: You will need to confirm your email address if you haven't already done so to turn on these settings.
Nostr - How can I get set up with Alby? How does it work? it's easier than it sounds..
As promised, let's see how nostr works and how you set that up with Alby to make it a little bit easier.
Breaking it down 🫡
So a little bit about Nostr first. It is not one app but a simple and open protocol that apps can use to create more censorship-resistant “social” networks.
It doesn't rely on any trusted central server, hence it is resilient; it is based on cryptographic keys and signatures.
First Step, let's talk about keys.
2 keys a public key and a private key, think of a public key as your username, one you will share so people can find you...
For all our new friends who are new to using the Lightning network or thinking about getting themselves a Lightning wallet.
So you're right into #Bitcoin, you've probably heard about the Lightning Network. ⚡️
Lightning Network is a layer on top of the Bitcoin blockchain that enables fast, cheap, and scalable transactions⚡️
It works by creating a network of payment channels that can be used to send and receive Bitcoin without having to wait for blocks to be confirmed on the blockchain
This means that you can use the Lightning Network to make instant payments, with very low fees. In order to use the Lightning Network, you'll need a special type of wallet called a Lightning wallet.
Today marks the 14th anniversary of the mining of the Bitcoin Genesis block by the genius Satoshi Nakamoto. A revolutionary achievement in decentralized technology. Happy Bitcoin Genesis Day! #Bitcoin#GenesisDay#SatoshiNakamoto 🧵
This laid out the foundation for the world's first decentralized digital currency, which has since grown to become a global phenomenon with a market capitalization of over $1 trillion...
But the road to get here was not easy. In the early days, Bitcoin faced significant resistance and skepticism from the traditional financial world. There were (and still are) concerns about its use for illegal activities, as well as its volatile price and lack of regulation.
