“The survey findings came around a week after CM Pushkar Singh Dhami vowed "tough action against encroachments to end land jihad", saying at an event in Kumaon last week that "at more than 1,000 locations, either a 'mazaar' or other such illegal structures have been constructed”. 
"The preliminary survey revealed that in the four prominent circles of Garhwal region - Garhwal circle, Bhagirathi circle, Shivalik Circle and Yamuna Circle - there are 155 unauthorised temples, two gurdwaras and 10 mazaars."
"In Kumaon region, across its 10 forest divisions, there are nearly 115 unauthorised temples, the survey found. These include prominent ones like the Purnagiri temple in Tanakpur, Champawat, which hosts an elaborate three-month fair every year, and the Garjia temple"
