On LB77 from Sen. Tom Brewer, which would allow Nebraskans to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, lawmakers got the 33 votes needed to shut off debate.
(Fixed an unfortunate typo in previous tweet.)
LB77 passes on final reading 33-14.
Someone in the north balcony starts yelling “Shame” and is escorted from the chamber.
Another woman just yelled “We’ll remember you guys” and the said she’d see herself out.
Lt. Gov. Joe Kelly just ordered the balcony cleared.
Brewer said with Sens. Justin Wayne and Terrell McKinney excused today, he had some concern that he would have the votes, but was able to ultimately prevail.
The person removed from the chamber was Melody Vaccaro of Nebraskans Against Gun Violence.
I've heard that Vaccaro was taken to the security office and given a letter informing her she's been banned from the Capitol unless she makes an appointment and then escorted out of the building.
"You have been Banned and Barred from the Nebraska State Capitol and the Nebraska State Capitol grounds. You are not to enter the Nebraska State Capitol or the Nebraska State Capitol grounds except for scheduled appointments to conduct business."
This is a Nebraska State Patrol policy and not a policy of the #neleg, I've been told.
I'm not a lawyer, but wondering how this doesn't infringe upon someone's First Amendment rights.
Here's what The Rules say about the presiding officer's duties to keep order in the chamber. It doesn't say anything about banning someone from the grounds for life. Still waiting to hear back from NSP.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
Jack Riggins, the host Drive Time Lincoln on 1400 KLIN, is not on air this evening. Riggins was apparently behind a tweet by NEGOP last week posting sexual images from a graphic novel. Station management said they are discussing the situation with Riggins.
Drive Time Lincoln is otherwise continuing with guest Matt Innis, who is on to basically defend the NEGOP tweet that the book in question is available in Nebraska schools — something dozens of teachers have said isn’t the case.
Innis is using a letter from the Nebraska Library Association asking the State Board of Education not to censor library books as evidence that the books in question shouldn’t be in schools.
GREENWOOD — We’re a little more than an hour away from Charles Herbster speaking at a rally at I-80 Speedway that was rescheduled from Friday due to severe weather.
Trump is scheduled to appear at 5 pm.
A dance party has broken out up front, as others wait in line. I believe they are going to fill out the bleachers and some standing room only areas in the wings.
Herbster is speaking with reporters in the press section. Here he is being interviewed by OAN.
Hearing the speakers are being moved back to 3 pm, which I’m sure means Trump will be later as well.
A few people have left, but there’s a lot of confusion. People still standing around.
Herbster addressed the crowd, said he made the decision to cancel along with Trump. Told the rally goers their safety was paramount. Rally may be Sunday, with Trump set to speak at 6 pm, Herbster said.
The first person who waved LJS photographer Kenny F. and I through at the Trump/Herbster rally was Fanchon Blythe from #LNK, who told us we are from the “Urinal Star.” #original
Talked with Thomas Sullivan from Plattsmouth who said he came to see Trump, who he believes could “say something historic.”
Sullivan said he was a Herbster voter until the allegations made against him. Now he’s “50-50.”
This gentleman literally has tin foil on his MAGA cap.
This is the most media I’ve seen at a University of Nebraska Board of Regents meeting. The boardroom is also at overflow right now. Meeting will begin at 9 am.
Here’s a bad pano:
Today's meeting is starting with remarks from state Sen. John Stinner of Gering, who is the Appropriations Committee chair. Stinner is a 1973 UNL grad (and member of 1970-71 national champ w/ Huskers) who has worked with admin on keeping tuition flat this year.
